* {{Retraux}}: When Yukko recites her first poem in Episode 11, the scene changes to the style of an old-school anime. There was so much attention to detail when recreating the feel of physical animation cels that you'd be convinced that it was from an actual old-school anime; and comes complete with dust particles, scratches, film grain and fidgeting backround.

* {{Kendo}}: Mio's sister, Misato, her sister and Sasahara practice this. Mio herself used to pratice it, too.

* CentipedesDilemma: It's established firmly (especially in Ep. 19) that Mio is TERRIBLE at sports and basically any physical activity. Yet, she's shown to be an excellent fighter several times, and suddenly has great reflexes, balance, etc. (For example, jumping into the air to grab her manga sheets, twisting around to land on her feet only inches from hitting the ground; or when her sister messes with her cake, and she trips down the stairs, yet manages to land gracefully). It could be that Mio is only terrible at sports and coordination when she's thinking about it. When she's filled with rage, she's an Olympic-level athlete because she's not thinking about what to do with her feet, she's just furious.

* SurprisinglyForeignLanguage: Surprisingly Good Malay or Indonesian: Yuuko and Mai were greeting each other in Malay/Indonesian in Episode 1. Not only what they are saying is correct (including Yuuko correcting Mai that she should have replied "''Selamat pagi''"(Good morning) just like what she said earlier, not "''Selamat malam''"(Good night)) but their pronunciation was good as well.

* OnlySixFaces: There are only four or so unique faces, and even those are subject to [[ArtShift change]] based on the situation. This is actually the source of a lot of stylistic parody -- the school trio and scientist trip lend themselves well to being photoshopped into other character's costumes.
