* TheBeard: Machi goes on a fake date with Ikuto to get Hikaru Genji to stop pursuing her.

* EatTheDog: One bonus chapter has mame daifuku that were accidentally made with alcohol, so Suzu gets drunk...and sees Tonkatsu, or anything round and soft for that matter[[note]]including Rin's ''breasts''[[/note]], as a mame daifuku. HilarityEnsues.

* LongRunners: As of 2023 the manga has ''forty volumes'' and shows no sign of stopping - maybe not too impressive compared to some {{Shonen}} juggernauts, but damn respectable for a harem series. In fact, it's the oldest still-active series in ''Monthly Shonen Gangan'', beating out [[Manga/ACertainMagicalIndex the next-closest contender]] by five years.

* ChristmasCake: ValuesDissonance has Airantou's inhabitants get married at around 14-15 years of age. Therefore, apparently, it's an issue for those who are well "over" that age. [[BerserkButton Not worth it mentioning "who" exactly, though...]]

* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: The first mother introduced is Chizuru, Machi and Ayane's mother (and to the hilarious reaction by Ikuto by this revelation). We then found out that the women marry at young ages since their life-style's that of the Fedual Era. Chizuru is the first to have children at her ''age''. And thus, Machi being the oldest with a ChristmasCake issue.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Everyone: males, females, youkai, half-youkai, animals, ghosts, ect takes a turn at being the brunt of slap stick humor. Ayane probably takes the most turns though.

* InnocentCohabitation: Ikuto and Suzu. There are no ThoseTwoGuys to {{lampshade|Hanging}} this, of course, but then again, the rest of the UnwantedHarem is jealous.

* StatusQuoIsGod: Except for a few very far apart things, like the arrival of Mei Mei, and Ikuto's accustomization to the weirdness of the island, the chapters could be read in almost any order and still make sense.
** And then later, there's [[spoiler:Ayane developing an '''actual''' attraction to Ikuto, which, as Tohno said, was opposed to liking Ikuto ''only because'' he's the lone male on the island.]]
** Actually there is a running time line. Almost all chapters go right from the end of the previous chapter. You could chalk up whatever they are talking about until the new plot picks up as a NoodleIncident, but well that would hurt the story.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: Though the penguins on the island are rarely given the spotlight. We've got Pen-Pen from Yukino's family, Sumeragi the shaved ice sales-penguin, and Togeta-san of the carpenters (yes, he's a penguin).
** Pen-Pen did become an AscendedExtra of sorts during the current StoryArc. [[spoiler:He solves part of Beniyasha's riddle and...was rewarded by becoming the "sidekick" in the resulting novel.]]

* InterspeciesRomance: For their mother's birthday, Shinobu, Mikoto and Kunai decide to give her a grandchild as a present. Which is the person they each chose to "do it" with them? [[CelibateHero Ikuto]], [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Rin]], and '''[[EverythingsBetterWithPenguins Togeta]]''', respectively. And that wasn't the even ''only'' hint of Kunai's attraction to Togeta...

* TooDumbToLive: For their mother's birthday, Shinobu, Mikoto and Kunai decide to give her a grandchild as a present. Which is the person they each chose to "do it" with them? [[CelibateHero Ikuto]], [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Rin]], and '''[[EverythingsBetterWithPenguins Togeta]]''', respectively. At least Shinobu's choice was biologically possible, but there was no way she could pop out a kid by the next day, let alone the fact that she does not know what sex is, or at least that's how one makes a baby. Apparently it is rather common to not know what sex is and be in the {{harem}}. Ayane [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale paralyzed him and was going to try and get pregnant]] with his child so that he could not leave the island. She never expected to get [[ButtMonkey this far]] in her plans anyway. This may be {{justified|Trope}} because there were no men on the island up till now so teaching your girls about the birds and bees may have seemed a waste of time. You would think that they would have got a crash course though once Ikuto showed up.

** A recent chapter had Ikuto get sick and get a fever which made him start to believe in magic. Then when he was still recovering he started to mix science fact with magic, and then he freaked out when he realized what he was saying.

* InformedAttractiveness: {{Subverted|Trope}}; Ikuto was frequently told that Panako (Chikage's elephant maid) is the most beautiful person on the island, which he refuses to believe. [[spoiler:And then the BalefulPolymorph episode came rolling around...]]
