In 1993, an anime OVA was released based on the first two volumes of the manga (it was later released in the United States by ADV Films under the name ''Battle Angel''). There are no plans to continue animated adaptations, but a [[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437086/ live action version]] produced by ''Film/TheTerminator'' director Creator/JamesCameron is currently wavering in and out of DevelopmentHell. Thanks to Cameron grabbing the license, the OVA is no longer sold in the United States.

* BodyHorror: Many of the cyborgs, and anything/body from Venus. Especially Alduína of Venus's [[TournamentArc Z.O.T.T.]] team. Of course, she very, very quickly gets worse. And in the original series, the victims of [[MadScientist Desty Nova's]] Karma experiments seen in his first and second laboratories also qualify.

Art-wise, the manga's cyberpunk style is reminiscent of a cross between [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/Moebius Moebius]] and [[http://comicartcommunity.com/gallery/categories.php?cat_id=26 Simon Bisley]].

* TheAce: Zekka, Zekka, fucking Zekka. It's like someone put [[TengenToppaGurrenLagann Kamina]] in a cyborg body and gave him awesome Kung Fu skills, and he's such a LargeHam that his idea of being a true man, and therefore a true warrior, is to be able to destroy an entire planet with nothing but pure skill and HotBlood. Two FacelessGoons in the background promptly [[LampshadeHanging hang a lampshade]] on this.

** For Alita it's cats due to her personality, and to a lesser extent octopuses due to her constant pout. Sechs' appears to be a shark, thanks to [[strike:her]] [[GenderBender his]] sharp teeth and [[SlasherSmile deadly grin]], and Zekka's compound eyes and overall design resembles a wasp.

* {{Chickification}}: Nova tries to defeat Alita with a variation of this trope. [[spoiler: He puts her in a {{Lotus Eater Machine}} where she can live out her life happily and peacefully with Ido and Nova himself as her father figures. This is supposed to reprogram Alita into a harmless and sweet little girl.]] It doesn't work. In fact, Nova is the one who is (somewhat) [[VillainDecay softened]] by the experience. Unfortunately for humanity, the Desty Nova that next appears is a back-up from BEFORE this softening.

** Desty Nova deserves a special mention. In ''Last Order'', Alita, having Acquired both of Desty Nova's brain chips and using them as [[IncrediblyLamePun Bargaining Chips]], stages a break-in with the help of another Virtual Portable Desty Nova ([[spoiler:"We call it the [=NovaPod=]!"]]). They're all ready to go in when they are interrupted by... Evil FunnyAfro Desty Nova ("Let's call me.. Super-Nova!") , who [[JustBetweenYouAndMe tells them all about how he will be destroying Alita now]], but he's interrupted by a transmission from... Desty Nova, Flan Cook.
