* TheProdigy: Pretty much every named character that isn't an adult in the first part, with the exception of Hyoma and Take's opponent in the first round in the tournament. Take is on an entirely different level in this respect, though, with almost everyone noting his growth, learning speed and adaptability.

''Buyuden'' is a sports manga about elementary school kids entering the world of boxing, with steady character development. Despite the synopsis above, the story is more about boxing than romance.

* FragileSpeedster: Take before the Time Skip. His jab and stamina are nothing special, considering his lack of experience. On the other hand his footwork and counters are top notch, the latter of which becomes his SignatureMove.

* AdaptiveAbility: Isamu begin to develop this after training at Seidoukan. Foreshadowed during part one, where he learned a lot of advanced technique despite being a begginer, and in the heats of the match. Then again, [[JustifiedTrope this explained his proficiency with counters.]]

* ALessonInDefeat: Isamu fell hard when Hayato defeated him, discovering that he needs to fight for real if he really wants to improve.

* CantCatchUp: Despite being one of the main trio, Hyoma is quickly surpassed by the geniuses Take and Moka. He started better than Take then latter lost because of Take's learning speed and his own weakness. At the tournament he almost won against Watari who, at that part of the story, is roughtly on par with Moka.

* HollywoodPudgy: Moka doesn't look that fat, she even looks healthy normal.
** Possibly [[AvertedTrope averted]] or even [[InvertedTrope inverted]] - her scale registers as 62.5kg, which is about 138lbs, while her height is given as 155cm, which is 5'1" (fyi: a "healthy" girl who is barely over 5 feet tall should weigh about 110-120lbs, or 50-55kg); oddly enough, however, she only looks about 10lbs overweight, instead of nearly 20. So she's officially heavier than she looks, actually. [[spoiler:In recent chapters, she fainted during practice for attempting to try for radical dieting. It doesn't help that she has anemia on top of starving herself and fainting.]]

* {{Expy}}: Accidentally [[InvokedTrope invoked]] - Moka, pre-TimeSkip is basically physically identical to Sandra of Webcomic/SandraAndWoo, both are 12, and both share an oddball/tomboyish personality.

* BadassDecay: Moka. While she did not have a lot of victories in the first arc, she performs well enough that she could beat the Champion of the Tournament if not for her HeroicBSOD. After the Time Skip, any time she gets into a fight one of three things can happen:
** She tires out before the opponent after it becomes a stalemate,
** She gets outskilled is outmatched by the opponent, or
** She gets tricked by her opponent.
