The main series has ended on December 2015 at 72 chapters. It has been licensed in France by Soleil Productions since April 2015. Not to be confused with the 2001 spanish horror film Film/Arachnid. Also, for Murata's other takes on people fighting with animal abilities, see Manga/Jackals, Vaia'n Maiden and Manga/KillingBites (anything from him other than Majo ni Ataeru Tettsui, reallyAnd even that one feels all too familiar, just swapping bugs for torture devices.). Yū Sasuga's Manga/TerraforMARS also deals with this concept.

** Kabutomushi mentions a "Hercules Horn" weapon at one point in Arachnid. This never comes into play and is left for Caterpillar instead.

* ChekhovsGun:
ChekhovsGun: Arachnid has a curious habit of bringing up people and plot hooks that don't amount to much of anything in itself but pay off in Caterpillar. Both during the time the spinoff is a prequel and afterwards.
** Kabutomushi mentions a "Hercules Horn" weapon at one point in Arachnid. This never comes into play The prequel reveals it is a foldable double sword that belong to the previous Kabutomushi.
** Amenbo is a mere VillainOfTheWeek in Arachnid, but it is established she's good friends with Imomushi. Way after a small cameo in the prequel, she's the one who gets Imomushi
and is left for Caterpillar instead.every other surviving assassin out of the Ageha ship.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Arachnid leaves the fates of several characters unclear. From the looks of it, Caterpillar will eventually solve this issue.
** Most notably Imomushi, who is knocked out and isn't seen again for the rest of Arachnid.
** We last see Alice fighting off the on her own, but as a SequelHook in the epilogue Kabutomushi brings up the possibility that she's been captured by the Organization.
** are presumably raped off screen and , but the consequences of that aren't clear.
** Amenbo and Riock are unaccounted for. For that matter, Hanakamakiri doesn't even show up in Arachnid at all.
** In Caterpillar, there are a couple of villains that don't escape the Ageha ship with Imomushi but aren't shown getting killed in the explosion either.

* Prequel: The first 93 chapters take place a year before Arachnid. From 94 on, the story becomes a POVSequel.

There's also a spinoff prequel named Caterpillar, which focuses on an assassin named Imomushi who had her own troubles within the Organization a year before Alice became involved.

* ShownTheirWork: The series incorporates the behaviors and characteristics of real-life bugs into the assassins and they're pretty accurate too. In fact, there are sections where the narrator explains these to the audience and they wouldn't be out of place in a National Geographic Channel documentary. Caterpillar in particular has some interesting trivia about obscure bugs.
