** One of the most significant changes is that by the end of the series, Kitano looks nowhere near as horrifying as he did at the beginning as the art is refined. It may be a case of FridgeBrilliance; as more people grow to know and accept Kitano, he looks less and less like a devil to the cast and the readers. However, TheDreaded Kitano from the beginning could be considered much funnier.

** Also, people completely miss the point of mostly everything Kitano does or says. Which makes most of the plot happen. A certain amount of FridgeBrilliance applies as well; since people assume Kitano is a junkie, anything that seems strange or is a non-sequitur is put down as the ramblings of a guy high on drugs.

** Ryoko's father is at least a downplayed version, especially for the one time he used a dangerous technique to render his daughter unconscious so that he could fight Kitano without her interfering.

** Ryoko will tell anyone who will listen that Kitano is an innocent, normal guy, but nobody believes her because they have already been convinced by the rumors of his delinquency. This is especially true of Kitano's delinquent friends who are certain that their "guardian" is a dangerous badass. The principal also ignores his subordinate who suggests to him that Kitano is not necessarily bad just because he looks that way.
*** Eventually works when she tells Takehisa.
** Kitano cannot get anyone to believe him when he protests that he's not a hoodlum or explains that he's only trying to help.
* CentralTheme: The foolishness of jumping to conclusions about someone based only on their appearance.

** Don't judge a book by its cover, or jump to conclusions about a situation you don't understand; people who act on prejudice always end up making fools of themselves. You might meet your best friend or the love of your life by talking to someone who is shunned by others for nothing but appearance and rumors.

* CentralTheme: Never judge a book by its cover. Jumping to conclusions based on someone's appearance says more about you than it does about them, and the only way to grow is to admit that you were wrong.

* NoEnding: The protagonists were getting totally out of hand for the author by the end of the series, so he tied up what he could and left us with a "the manga stops here, but they're going on with their lives" message. However the very end does feature a great GrandFinale.

* NoSocialSkills: Kitano. Much of the series is driven by his misunderstanding of basically everything. His inability to communicate very well with other often leads them to assume terrible things about him and run away. Likewise, Kitano seems only vaguely aware of his own frightfulness.

* NoSocialSkills: Kitano. Much NotSoDifferent: On either side of Kitano, there are two broad factions: the delinquent gangs, and the employees of the series is driven by his misunderstanding of basically everything. His inability to communicate very well with school system. While ostensibly one represents crime while the other often leads them represents justice, the case of Kitano reveals just how much that latter can act like the former. Just like the delinquents who only recognize power and intimidation, the principal, parents, and teachers immediately categorize Kitano as a threat to assume terrible things about their school without digging any deeper than his appearance or misinterpreted rumors. Furthermore, they end up harassing and using violence on Kitano by spying on him and run away. Likewise, Kitano seems only vaguely aware of his own frightfulness.
* NobleDemon: After a while, many students believe
sending professional thugs to beat him up, unable to realize the fact that Kitano is this, since he never skipped classes, did anything wrong at exactly the kind of rule-abiding student they're supposed to be protecting. This is really not so different from how the delinquent gangs claim to be ruled by a "guardian" who benevolently protects the school or didn't harm any ordinary student. In reality he's no demon, from other gangs, but who is really just noble.a tyrant governing by force.

Angel Densetsu is a story about Seiichirou Kitano, a kind and naive boy with the heart of an angel, but the sinister looks of a devil. This causes many (hilarious) misunderstandings, leading people to assume that he is a villain or heroin addict, and results in him unknowingly receiving the title of being the head thug, or "school guardian" at his new school. This causes him to become a legend that brings many thugs to challenge him (which leads to even more misunderstandings that further his Badass image). Kitano, for pretty much all of the series, remains blissfully unaware of his reputation, and is frequently confused by the odd behavior of his classmates and teachers around him. At the same time, a group of friends steadily gathers around Kitano as they realize the good person that he is on the inside.
