* Seems to be common of Toei Animation to make amalgammated cities. ''Anime/OjamajoDoremi'''s own Misora Town (alternatively called "Misora City") is noted to be in the Kantou region of Japan. Many viewers suspect that it's based off of the real-life Misora Town in Otsu, but that's all the way in the Kansai region, not Kantou.

* Despite its heavy amounts of WorldBuilding, ''Manga/DragonBall'' never really specifies the names of any nations on Earth. You get names like "East City," "Ginger Town," and the like, but no countries in the series are ever referred to by name.

** Similarly, in ''Fanfic/KiryuuinChronicles'', we could take the same assumption that the fic takes place in America, considering that Rye is town somewhere in New York, however, we know [[spoiler: Satsuki's father, Soichiro]] lives there but we don't know where a good chunk of the story takes place but it probably doesn't take place in New York.

*We're suppose to assume that ''Fanfic/CellarSecrets'' takes place in America (the Authoress' home country), considering the fact that their house has a basement and the fact that Satsuki narrations mentioned middle names (kids and the birth certificates thereof don't have middle names in Japan). However, while that is the case, we don't know exactly ''where'' in America they live.

* Denton from ''TheRockyHorrorPictureShow'' and ''ShockTreatment''. Neither movie outright says which of the 18 Dentons in America it's set in but Janet is seen reading the Plain Dealer (A Cleveland newspaper) with a headline about Ohio utilities and the ''Rocky Horror Scrapbook'' includes a clipped questionnaire that shows Janet's address as 10 Main Street, Denton, Ohio.

* "Camden County" on ''MyNameIsEarl'', which seems like it's supposed to be Southern despite the California doubling. Even odder, the county seems to be a town. Is "county" in the town's name officially or what?

* Denton from ''TheRockyHorrorPictureShow'' and ''ShockTreatment''. The first movie gives no clue where it's supposed to be but ''Shock Treatment's'' OpeningNarration refers to it as a "town not far from yours". ''Shock Treatment'' was meant to avert this trope by filming it in Denton Texas but thanks to the writers' strike, they ended up filming it in England.

*** Furthermore, the episode "Where's Pinky?" reveals that the area was originally three distinct Single-State Areas, suggesting ''another'' merger between two of them to form the Bi-State Area.

* Many cities share the same name, which can make telling which is which a bit of a pain. Alexandria, which most would think of as the city in Egypt, is only one of eight cities in AlexanderTheGreat's former empire (several other Alexandrias changed their names since his time). There even more in other countries, with two Alexandrias in Canada, three in Australia, and 19 in the US.

* The city that the localization of''Franchise/AceAttorney'' takes place in is left rather ambiguous in the games themselves, and although WordOfGod has vaguely placed it in Los Angeles, there have been a few things have contradicted this - One major one being in the franchise's ''very first'' episode to do with time zones. Plus on top of all this, the city seems to have a Japanese culture to it (obviously since the original versions take place in Japan). Most people just take WordOfGod as fact, and place the games in L.A, with the fanbase giving the location the fan-nickname of "Japanifornia''.

* The European Community once published a map of Europe that omittted the whole of Wales and gave Great Britain a brand new coastline running north-south from the Wirral to the Severn Estuary. Towns like Chester and Shrewsbury could apparently look forward to reinventing themselves as beach resorts. Many apologies were made to an irritated Welsh nation and the country was eventually restored.

* The town that ''DNAngel'' is set in is a strange case - all the characters have Japanese names and they seem to follow Japanese customs, but the town's architecture looks like a seaside European villa. The anime added a character that claimed to be an exchange student from America, but otherwise countries aren't really mentioned. In fact, the audio commentary for the English dub has two actors from it asking "Where is this set, anyway? France?"

* Most of ''Anime/KikisDeliveryService'' takes place in a city that explicitly borrows architectural elements from such locations as Stockholm, Visby, Lisboa, Napoli and Paris. It is implied to be located in Northern Europe, and the inhabitants seem to be a mix of European and East Asian phenotypes with no hint of racial segregation or discrimination.
