When the US Government decided to only take John and Battle Star, Left and Right were so furious at this that they opted to reveal John's identity, leading to John's parents getting murdered at the hands of the PoliticallyIncorrectVillain group the Watchdogs. The end result leads to John pummeling the two to a pulp and leaving them to die in a burning oil refinery.

* Music/DemiLovato and Music/SelenaGomez were already best friends, having starting their careers in ''Series/BarneyAndFriends'' but their friendship almost ended with a falling out in 2009 though they later reconciled. * In another historical example involving the Plantagenets, this was almost certainly part of the reason the legendary feud between Henry II and Thomas Becket was so acrimonious (and ended so badly). The two were initially close friends; Becket's appointment was supposed to give Henry greater control over the Church in England. Instead Becket found he had a very real religious vocation and became a staunch defender of the rights of the Church against Henry, culminating in Becket's brutal murder at the unwitting instigation of Henry. It's made all the more poignant by the fact many accounts state Becket explicitly begged Henry *not* to appoint him Archbishop of Canterbury because he feared this was precisely what would happen. Henry was in fact devastated by Becket's death, and became one of the earliest and most fervent believers in his saintly cult.

** During the Revolution, Benedict Arnold was friendly with many of the key figures, and Washington had commended him on several occassions, but because of political factors, Arnold never got a promotion commensurate to his achievements despite winning the crucial Battle of Saratoga (which convinced the French that the Patriots ''could'' win if they got additional support). After the Revolution, UsefulNotes/ThomasJefferson and Washington (who were never quite close) maintained cordial relations that ended when Jefferson wrote a critical article on Washington in a newspaper under a pseudonym. Washington was quite cool with Jefferson after that.
** The most spectacular example is of course the MeleeATrois of Aaron Burr, Jefferson and UsefulNotes/AlexanderHamilton. Burr and Hamilton were friends, they worked in law practise together and were both New Yorkers. But sometime during the 1790s their friendship cooled and Burr became friendlier with Jefferson who hated Hamilton. Then in the 1800 election, Burr's Presidential election was swung in Jefferson's favour as a result of Hamilton's influence and when Burr later ran for Governor of New York, Hamilton published an ad in a newspaper that triggered the famous Burr-Hamilton duel, that led to Hamilton's death. Much later, Jefferson parted ways with Burr when he charged him with treason for a land-grabbing scheme. The trial found Burr innocent but the matter of the case and the smear campaign which Jefferson arranged ruined that friendship too.
** Jefferson and John Adams were a zigzagged example. Close friends during the Revolution, their divergent political philosophies, starting when they both served in Washington's administration, drove the apart, founding rival parties against each other. However, after they retired from politics, they reconciled their differences, and by the time of their deaths, they were the closet of friends again.
* This became much more deadly during UsefulNotes/TheFrenchRevolution where close friends who once allied on common points became polarized as a result of political factionalism and eventually sent each other to the guillotine. The most famous and tragic example is that of UsefulNotes/MaximilienRobespierre, Georges Danton and Camille Desmoullins. Robespierre and Desmoullins went to school together, Desmoullins and Danton practised law together and Robespierre and Danton allied on many key issues. Then during the ReignOfTerror, Robespierre after initially supporting Danton and Desmoullins for several months, turns on them after a corruption scandal is unearthed and sends them both to the guillotine. Danton issued a DyingCurse to Robespierre on the way to the guillotine.

It's said that Kurosawa insisted that Mifune grow a natural beard and prohibited him from shaving it, preventing Mifune from taking any other acting jobs and nearly bankrupting him. Afterwards, their careers took different turns; Mifune continued enjoying success with a number of samurai and war-themed movies, and even became popular amongst American audiences in 1980. On the other hand, Kurosawa's output of films dwindled and garnered rather mixed responses. * Music/CreedenceClearwaterRevival. Singer/guitarist/band leader John Fogerty first became tight with bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford in junior high, and formed a band called The Blue Velvets in 1959. John's older brother Tom would soon join the band. This tight bond among school friends and one family member was permanently destroyed in the early 1970s, as the band, now known as Creedence Clearwater Revival and on top of the rock pantheon, began to feud; mainly, it was Doug, Stu, and Tom getting fed up with John's dictatorial reign over all band decisions. To this day, the bad blood remains between John and Doug/Stu, even as all three founding members have recently turned 70 as of this writing. John and Tom weren't able to patch up their differences before the latter's death.

He has, however, remained on very good terms with LetsPlay/{{Strippin}}, LetsPlay/{{Sips}} LetsPlay/{{Sips}}, and B-Lister [=PyrionFlax=], also playing games with LetsPlay/{{Sjin}}, LetsPlay/InTheLittleWood, LetsPlay/KimRichards LetsPlay/KimRichards, and LetsPlay/DuncanJones, indicating that he's at least on good enough terms with Martyn, Kim Kim, and Duncan to work professionally. Lewis, for his part, has said that he would like to mend fences between both parties, but that remains unlikely.
* Music/CreedenceClearwaterRevival. Singer/guitarist/band leader Singer/guitarist/bandleader John Fogerty first became tight with bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford in junior high, and formed a band called The Blue Velvets in 1959.

* [[UsefulNotes/HillaryRodhamClinton Hillary Clinton]] and Creator/DonaldTrump were chummy when she was one of New York's US Senators and he was a registered Democrat. Hillary and Bill were guests at Donald's wedding in 2005, and Bill was also a golfing buddy. Donald made frequent donations to Hillary's campaigns, hosted fundraisers for her, and endorsed her for president in 2008. Not the case anymore when they ran against each other for president in 2016, with Donald (now a Republican) running what many pundits called the most vulgar campaign in memory, calling her "crooked", "the devil", a "nasty woman". Prior to the second presidential debate, Donald held a press conference of women who had accused Bill of sexual harassment. Trump eventually won the election against his former friend.
* [[UsefulNotes/HeresiesAndHeretics Galileo Galilei]] and [[UsefulNotes/ThePope Pope Urban VIII.]] Galileo held scientific views that were in opposition to the church, but his good friend Pope Urban enjoyed a good debate and encouraged Galileo to publish his views. Unfortunately, Galileo wrote his arguments in the form of a dialogue, and the character representing the pope was named "Simplicio" ("The Simpleton"), and spoke in a manner than suggested he was foolish and stubborn. Their friendship over, the pope demanded that Galileo be brought to trial for spreading heresy.

* Creator/GeorgeLucas and Gary Kurtz were good friends before disagreements over the direction that the ''Franchise/StarWars'' franchise had taken after ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'' led their friendship and partnership to end. Kurtz didn't like the franchise becoming MerchandiseDriven as he suspected that Lucas was trying to play up the merchandising angle of the movie more with characters like the Ewoks (ironically, the toys for the latter creatures did rather poorly in merchandise sales), putting more emphasis on special effects than story and was in favour of Han Solo being KilledOffForReal in ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' in addition to the film being more DarkerAndEdgier than ''Empire'', but Lucas wanted Han to survive and decided to have the Death Star back for the film in addition to being LighterAndSofter than ''Empire'', which Kurtz strongly opposed (as he felt that it would be rehashing the Death Star conflict). After that, he quit just a month before production for ''Empire'' (which was a TroubledProduction) ended and was replaced by Howard Kazanjian.
