It is not. World Star itself can be accessed after beating the game for the first time, but to even enter any courses, you'll need 90 Star Coins. The SNES version of Kirby's Star Stacker is actually officially named...Kirby's Star Stacker. The same name as the Game Boy release.

* VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBros2 has Dry Bowser as the True Final Boss, as World-Star is unlocked by collecting all the star coins.

** Played with in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, wherein beating the boss of Scrambled Egg Zone (Mecha Sonic/Silver Sonic) with all the Emeralds collected allowed the player to move on to the true final level, Crystal Egg Zone (which has the same amount of Acts as the others), fight the real final boss, Robotnik/Eggman himself, and properly save Tails (if you don't have all the Emeralds before beating Scrambled Egg Zone Act 3, the game concludes prematurely and in a grim DownerEnding upon completing this stage).

** Despite the Wii version lacking a True Final Boss, the Nintendo DS version of VideoGame/SonicColors has you collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds in Special Stages that are similar to those of VideoGame/SonicRush when you collect 50 rings in a normal stage in each world. After all 7 of the emeralds are collected, you get to fight the Nega-Mother Wisp as Super Sonic.
** Collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds in Videogame/SonicMania will unlock the Egg Reverie battle, in which you fight both Eggman and the Heavy King as Super Sonic.

* Beating the entire story mode of VideoGame/DrMario 64 in one sitting without continuing would pit you against Vampire Wario if you were Mario or Metal Mario if you were Wario. (Once you actually reached this point, you could continue and retry the match as many times as you liked.) Beating them unlocked the code for S-Hard difficulty.
* VideoGame/Kirby's Super Star Stacker has Gryll, a Star-Stacking champion who only shows up if one manages to complete the rest of the game without using any continues.

* VideoGame/BlackSouls II: Prior to the release of Crown of the Lion and the Unicorn, if Grimm managed to talk to Red Hood at all locations, get Leaf's Ring and view all 6 memories, then when attempting to start a NewGamePlus, pressing cancel when asked who is Alice to Grimm will send him into the true final dungeon without any Covenant to assist him, and at the end of it, if he chose Red Hood over Leaf, then he will have to fight the Crawling One to obtain Ending G, which ends in Grimm waking up in the real world and meets Red Hood. After the release of the final DLC, in addition to the above requirements, Grimm must talk to Mabel at least once and approaching the final DLC area with more than 31 SEN, then after siding with Unis or Leiden, this will unlock the true final area of the entire game and allow Grimm to fight the Grand Guignol, the absolute final boss of the entire game, which has a multi-phase boss fight that does indeed take the crown for the hardest boss fight in the game. Successfully defeating will unlock the H(eartbreak) ending, which has Grimm sitting aside Red Hood as she approaches her final seconds of life. Notably, to signify that it is in fact the very final ending of the game, instead of starting an NewGamePlus, instead it boots you back to the title screen.

* VideoGame/KingdomHeartsBirthBySleep has three scenarios for the three main characters, and each scenario has its own FinalBoss. The true final boss, though, is fought in the Final Episode (accessed by collecting all off the Xehanort reports throughout the three scenarios) as Aqua, fighting desperately against the crazed BigBad Xehanort possessing her friend Terra's body. Final Mix takes it a step further with the Secret Episode. This takes place during Aqua's time in the Realm of Darkness, where she fights off many Heartless (such as Shadows, Neoshadows, and Darkballs) until she faces a new boss Heartless called the Dark Hide.

** In rare circumstances, your final boss in Tekken 6 will be a golden-colored Azazel (often called Golden Azazel by the fanbase). He is much harder to beat than the normal one, but gives you more reward upon defeat.
