* ''Webcomic/{{Niels}}'': In one comic, Thomas has been forced to arrest 250 and 300 after they got into a bar fight. He knows he can't hold them because the agency they belong to will get them released, but he does take a moment to relish that this happened at all. The result is a very awkward, stilted, and creepy open-mouthed grin.

* ''Webcomic/{{Shortpacked}}'':
** Amber is told to smile for the customers. Her horrible grimace is, as Ethan sourly remarks, about how much smile they're paid for.
** The scene in ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' of Rei smiling at Shinji for the first time [[http://www.shortpacked.com/index.php?id=1062 gets redone]].
** From the same [[Webcomic/WalkyVerse Universe]], PerpetualFrowner [[JerkAss Mike Warner's]] [[http://www.itswalky.com/d/20020407.html first attempt]] at smiling when not under the influence of alcohol. Gah! (Second time was only a [[SlasherSmile slight improvement]]).

** This has happened at least twice with Mr. Burns. First was when he was running for governor, and he's being shown an artist's rendition of his political ad where he's standing tall on a mountain top. He asks "Why are my teeth showing like that?!" to which his advisor responds "Because you're ''smiling''!" Mr. Burns commends him for producing the sort of trickery they were being paid for. Later he actually smiles, and it causes him physical pain to do so.
** In another episode he bets his fortune to the Rich Texan over who can get a photo with a kid smiling. He loses because he is so creepy when smiling that all the town's children (and Otto) cry when standing next to him.
