* This is how Daisuke of DNAngel transforms into his alter-ego, Dark. It's implied that Satoshi's transformation may be triggered similarly.

* Literature/SchooledInMagic: Discussed and mocked in Work Experience. Some of the ballads about Emily claim she defeated Shadye by using this, to her embarrassment, finding the idea it could work on a monster like him absurd.

** Subverted with the actual one of "Da Rules" saying "Magic can't interfere with true love". This is indirectly revealed to not be a physical limitation of magic but rather purely a cold bureaucratic rule with some rather loose definitions, as even when it's patently obvious that said "true love" is unhealthy, shallow, materialistic, or even one-sided, Cosmo and Wanda still aren't allowed to cast any spells that would interfere with it.

* The ChristmasSpecial Raggedy Ann and Andy in the Great Santa Claus Caper has a particularly sappy variant of this: the power of love (combined with some gratuitous AudienceParticipation) not only dissolves the BigBad's Gloopstik, but convinces him to have a HeelFaceTurn.

* Subtly but constantly used in ChronoCrusade. Early in the series, Rosette stops Chrono from losing himself in demonic rage when he thinks she's dead. Joshua stops Fiore from by mistaking her for his sister . Later, Rosette in a similar way. Rosette partially because of her love for Chrono and partially through simple Determinator stubbornness. To top it off, she's aided in it from Chrono's former love. These are only some of the examples.

* The Hone-onna or Bone-Woman of Japan are ghost driven by love to remain in the world of the living, rather than hate and revenge like other onryo ("vengeful ghosts"). The problem is that while their spirit remains so does the disgusting, rotting corpse they once had. The create a sort of Glamour to the object of her love and drains him of his life so they can be together in death. The disguise doesn't work if she's not after you, so it can be disconcerting at the least to see one's master flirting with a walking corpse.

Her problem is her love comes off as a selfish sort of love; when she is found out she becomes desperate and the more desperate she becomes the more her "lover" drains away until he dies or is nearly-dead.

*Literature/JourneyToChaos:
**Generally speaking, love is one of the domains of Chaos (as is all emotion) and used for holy chaos magic.
**In the third book, Literature/ManaMutationMenace, Eric's DeclarationOfProtection to Annala enables him to overcome ordercraft mind control (with chaotic assistance from Annala herself).
**Also in the third book, TheFourLoves are essential to the only known method of curing "monsanity", A.K.A. mental mana mutation. Even after the FaceMonsterTurn, there is at least one person that the new monster refuses to attack. This person can then help a specialist restore the victim's sanity.
