** Subverted with ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai''[='s=] Mega Mode and Shogun Mode (which would otherwise be the Battlizer-style upgrade) as well; though more armored and visually impressive than the regular Ranger suits, they're only used to pilot the Megazords, not for fighting (barring one use of Shogun Mode in the finale). ''Series/PowerRangersDinoCharge'' had similar Megazord armors, but they were explicitly not Super Modes.

** Later chapter reveals that [[spoiler:Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, has his own version as well, which, unlike the other three examples, does not appear to have an AnimalMotif, but a "God Motif", which gives him some FacialMarkings. And it's ''FREAKIN' awesome.'']]

Added DiffLines:

* In ''VideoGame/MonsterHunter 4'', the Frenzy Virus simply causes monsters to behave erratically and potentially spread the virus to hunters, but ''4 Ultimate'' introduces the Apex status, which not only allows the host monster to spread the virus, but also higher attack power, complete immunity to elements, traps, and status effects, super-hard skin/scales/hide that bounces off even purple-sharpness attacks except in a few select areas of the monster's body, and the abilities of the monster's subspecies. Apex monsters can only be effectively fought with the Drive Wystone active, which allows the user to pierce its super-hard defenses and (like the other Wystones) temporarily knock it out of Apex status.
