A character or an entire group gets split. It can be a small rebellion of characters thinking differently or a SplitPersonality of a character creating his EvilTwin; see also LetsSplitUpGang or InvoluntaryGroupSplit. The two entities created are so completely opposite that it's hard to believe they have something in common. Then, however, they reunite. ** The entire universe has undergone this since ''ComicBook/AvengersDisassembled''. ''ComicBook/CivilWar2006'' split ComicBook/TheAvengers into two separate teams led by ComicBook/CaptainAmerica & ComicBook/IronMan respectively, with most of the other superheroes picking a side. It took an [[ComicBook/SecretInvasion alien invasion]], [[ComicBook/DarkReign Norman Osborn becoming the world's supercop]], [[BackFromTheDead Captain America's resurrection]] and Iron Man [[ItMakesSenseInContext having his brain rebooted from a back-up that he made prior to Civil War]] to reunite the various heroes against a common foe.
** On top of that, the ComicBook/XMen have generally stayed apart from the rest of the characters since ''ComicBook/HouseOfM'' ended with most mutants being depowered & as of this entry, are now at the point that the X-Men are being split in two & fighting each other.

[[spoiler: Later they reunite and explain they were split beings. The official book about Dark Crystal world says, their split was an effect of purity pursuit.]]
* ''Film/{{Juliana}}'': Some weeks after Juliana runs away from home, she gathers enough courage to pay a visit to her mother's usual vending spot. Previously, there was friction in their relationship because Juliana's stepfather is an abusive, lazy jerk that Juliana's mother never confronts. When they meet after being separated, it's implied that Juliana's mother is now standing up to her husband, even managing to retrieve the radio he stole from Juliana. {{Zigzagged}} because they have a happy reunion but Juliana doesn't come back to her house.
