* ''Fanfic/TheBridge'': Enjin has a core, resembling a large bead, in his chest. As long as it remains intact, he can regenerate from any damage, even if every part of him but the core is incinerated. The core is very durable, but once it is destroyed, Enjin's body evaporates like smoke.

** Kakuzu collects people's hearts and incorporates them into his body. He can also use them to animate minions for him. Whether they are inside or outside his body, he can't die unless they are all destroyed.

A container or object which holds all or part of a person's [[OurSoulsAreDifferent soul]] (or life, or heart) outside of their body; this makes that person [[{{Immortality}} immortal]] and/or [[NighInvulnerability invulnerable]]. The only flaw is that the Soul Jar is now their AchillesHeel (assuming that the jar isn't ''itself'' MadeOfIndestructium). Usually, they make sure it is ''very'' well protected (the word ''phylactery'', the common name for this kind of container from ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' fame, actually comes from Ancient Greek ''phylacterion'', form of ''phylássein'', [φυλάσσειν] meaning "to guard, protect").
