[[caption-width-right:200:[[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Scott McNeil, MIGHTY IS HE!]]]]

Easily the most popular voice actor to work with TheOceanGroup, '''ScottMcNeil''' is the Canadian equivalent to Creator/CrispinFreeman... [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries IN AMERICA]], and Creator/BanjoGinga in Japan. He's usually cast as a big guy or a villain, but he also does some quirky and funny roles too. His most known roles are probably [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars Dinobot, Waspinator and Rattrap]], [[WesternAnimation/MegaMan Dr. Wily and Protoman]], [[Manga/DragonBall Piccolo]] in the early episodes, and [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Duo Maxwell]]. He reached MemeticMutation status fairly quickly, faster than his U.S. counterpart.

Scott does a wide variety of voices in his work (again, see ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars''), but also tends to have two particular voices that are unmistakably his: a deep, gravelly, growling voice (ref. Piccolo, Koga), occasionally with snarl for particularly monstrous-looking roles (ref. Dinobot, Bale), or a snarky young, cocky-sounding voice (ref. Duo, Rattrap).

His favorite voice actors are Creator/JimCummings, Creator/FrankWelker, Creator/RobPaulsen, Creator/MauriceLaMarche, Creator/MelBlanc and GaryChalk (who voiced Optimus on ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars''). His favorite characters out of those he's played are [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Duo]] and [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist Hohenheim]], because they resemble himself as a young man and an adult, respectively. His favorite show he ever worked on is ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', which he claims is one of the few shows he's done where he actively made it a point to turn on the TV and watch every episode when it aired. In fairness, it probably helps that he voiced half the cast.
----
!!Notable roles by [=Scott McNeil=]:

* Dinobot, Rattrap, Waspinator, and Silverbolt in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' (which, given the amount the first two fight, leads to a lot of TalkingToHimself)
* Hack in ''WesternAnimation/{{ReBoot}}'' (from Season 2 onwards)
* Wrath-Amon in ''WesternAnimation/ConanTheAdventurer''
* Sleazy strip club owner/porn czar Mars ''and'' devout Qu'ran-spouting Muslim father [[MeaningfulName Osama]] in ''WebAnimation/BrokenSaints''
* Verrocchio in ''Manga/BlackLagoon''
* Duo Maxwell in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing''
* Jesus in the AnimatedAdaptation of ''Literature/BenHur'' (Now you know why the aneurysm is funny)
* Wolverine in ''WesternAnimation/{{X-Men Evolution}}''
* Ali Al-Saachez and Daryl Dodge in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00''
* Piccolo in ''Manga/DragonBall Z'' (Ocean dub)
* Koga in ''Manga/InuYasha''
* Protoman and Dr. Wily in the ''WesternAnimation/MegaMan'' AnimatedAdaptation
* Ken, Blanka, Cody, and Rolento in the ''WesternAnimation/StreetFighter'' AnimatedAdaptation

* Gutsman.EXE and Shademan.EXE in ''Anime/MegaManNTWarrior''
* Cain in ''WesternAnimation/DragonBooster''
* Hohenheim of Light in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist'' (One of two roles he's done cross-region, as a favor to good buddy VicMignogna. Replaced by JohnSwasey in ''[[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]]'')
* Lord Bale, Sindri, Lord Carron, and about half the Imperial Guard in ''VideoGame/DawnOfWar''
* Jetfire in ''Anime/TransformersArmada''.
* Jetfire (again), Omega Supreme, and Strongarm in ''Anime/TransformersEnergon''.
* Backstop and Snarl in ''Anime/TransformersCybertron''.
* Lord Raptor in ''VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}}'' -- both [[WesternAnimation/{{Darkstalkers}} the American cartoon]] and the anime, making him the sole voice actor from the American series to return for the anime. In the cartoon, he also voiced Rikuo as well as being the later voice of Anakaris.
* Stork, Repton, Leugy and countless minor characters in ''WesternAnimation/StormHawks''
* Jajuka, Kio, Reeden and King Aston in ''Manga/TheVisionOfEscaflowne''

* Sid Sycamore in ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales''
* Hero (Cocky) in ''[[DefJamSeries Def Jam: Fight for NY]]''
* Chef Antoine in ''VideoGame/DeadRising2''.
* Tanomo in ''Anime/SamuraiSeven'' (The other cross-region role)
* Voltar in ''WesternAnimation/LeagueOfSuperEvil'' '''("VICTORYYYYY!!")'''
* Rover the Diamond Dog, Chief Thunder Hooves and Flam in ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''
* Tahu and Onua Nuva in the first ''Franchise/{{BIONICLE}}'' movie.
* Twin Masters in ''WesternAnimation/{{Hero 108}}''.
* Mac Hopper in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog''

And now for certain tropes about how his roles usually go (and Scott [=McNeil=] himself)
* {{Badass}}: While Dinobot from ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' is not the only example he is often deemed one of the best ones. Which would explain how their [[EvilIsSexy fanbase]] can be.
* {{Bishonen}}: A very good portion of his young male roles can be like that (Duo Maxwell from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'' easily being the biggest example.)
** Several fans see him as one too, but he's more of the rugged type of bishonen.
* {{Jossed}}: There have been rumors of him doing voicework in California in which all have been proven false (such as ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil5'', Grimmjow in ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' and Tobi in ''Manga/{{Naruto}} Shippuden'').
* ManOfAThousandVoices: When it comes to Canadian Voice Talent he is well known for having a great vocal range (Beast Wars being one of the bigger examples)
* NiceGuy: He's known for being incredibly nice and social with his fans, sometimes taking quite a long time to talk to a single one, take pictures with them, and even does voices for them. His popularity is so great that at many conventions there's a "Scott [=McNeil=]" line and an "Everybody Else" line. His is longer.
* NiceHat: One of his most known features in his outfit is that cowboy hat he often wears in conventions.
* OneOfUs: Has admitted to being a Video Game Player as ''VideoGame/WarCraft'' is one of his favorites, and joked about how he did had such a fanboy moment with Charlton Heston.
** He also once talked about how he has played ''[[DefJamSeries Def Jam 2 The Fight for New York]]'' before (though he does one of the "Character voices" you can pick for your character). But he mainly commented on how he was surprised on how you get to do an awful lot of shopping in that game.
* PlayingAgainstType: He played against characters he's typically typecast for a few times in the past- aside from the Pungeon Master tree and Care Bear mentioned below, he also played the shy chicken-phobic teacher ''Mr. Yoshi'' in {{Anime/Hamtaro}}
* PungeonMaster: He was a tree with a PunnyName that told bad jokes in ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales'' (try to digest the name "Sid Sycamore" for a while) and [[Franchise/CareBears Grumpy Bear]]...
* ShipTease: While he occasionally jokes around with the guys for the Yaoi fanbase, when it comes to Canadian Voice Actresses he does have a bit of a fondness for VenusTerzo. (''[[RelationshipVoiceActor Beast Wars]]'' is easily one of the biggest reasons why this is mentioned.)
** IanJamesCorlett once joked about that on how he enjoyed seeing Scott squirm when there was a Cheetor/Blackarachnia/Silverbolt triangle later on in ''Beast Wars''. (Though, of course, Ian does make it clear that he only likes Venus as a friend. And the fact that he's a happily married man does help.)
* ShipperOnDeck: Does occasionally do this in Conventions such as this little quote of his on Koga and Ayame from ''Manga/InuYasha'' namely "I just wanna pull Koga aside and have a word with him... I would go... 'Koga... you got this thing in your head that Kagome will be your mate! SHE'S UNATTAINABLE DUDE!' Then you have beautiful sweet lovely Ayame going... 'Oh please will you marry me?' (At this point a fan shouts out "Yes!" and gets a laugh. Scott attempts to ignore it) and I am like dumbass... go there!"
* TalkingToHimself: In addition to the ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' example, he played both Sindri and Bale in ''VideoGame/DawnOfWar'', as well as Carron and Boreale in Soulstorm, Dr. Wily and Protoman in the ''WesternAnimation/MegaMan'' cartoon... So yeah, he's done it a little bit here and there.
