Actress and comedienne born December 1, 1970, best known for her incredibly dark and vulgar sense of humor, and her show TheSarahSilvermanProgram. She was a cast member and writer on Series/SaturdayNightLive for the 1993-1994 season, but didn't show off the humor she'd be known for today and was let go after a season via fax. In the early 2000s she appeared as a regular on MrShow and GregTheBunny and a recurring voice actor on CrankYankers, showcased her StandupComedy act in the 2005 films Film/TheAristocrats and Jesus Is Magic, and frequently guested on then-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel's late night show.

On the big screen she has had smaller parts in Film/SchoolOfRock and Film/TheresSomethingAboutMary. On TV she has had minor parts on WesternAnimation/AmericanDad, Series/Frasier, WesternAnimation/Futurama (as the replacement voice for Fry's girlfriend, Michelle, on "The Cryonic Woman." Michelle, as seen on "Space Pilot 3000," was voiced by KathSoucie, a career voice actress), Series/JAG, Series/Monk, Series/Seinfeld, Series/StarTrekVoyager, Series/TheGoodWife, WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons (as Nikki, a fourth grade girl who Tsundere flip-flops between loving Bart and hating his guts as seen on "Stealing First Base" and "Moonshine River"), and VIP.

* CloudCuckoolander: Most of her acting roles are this.
* GenkiGirl: They are also often this. Marci Maven is arguably the best example.
* InnocentBigot: Much of her shtick, particularly in her TV series, is that the character she portrays is a naïve racist who doesn't know any better.
* NWordPrivileges J-Word Privileges: She probably wouldn't be able to get away with half of her jokes about Jews if she wasn't Jewish herself. Then again, she makes plenty of jokes about non-Jews as well.

** Then there's her "Uncle Sarah" iPhone app, which basically casts her in the role of babysitter for toddlers. (No, really.) She's also appeared in an episode of Series/YoGabbaGabba.
** SarahPolley's 2011 film Take This Waltz has Silverman in more of a straight dramatic role, playing the recovering-alcoholic sister of one of the leads.
* PrecisionFStrike: Although she's usually pretty vulgar, she's a master of knowing just when to unleash a particularly nasty word.

* Screwed By NBC: She was on SaturdayNightLive for one season, didn't appear much in sketches or had the chance to showcase the type of humor she'd be known for later, and was then faxed a statement saying that they didn't need her back. This, along with JaneaneGarofalo's time on the show, was proof for a lot of people to claim that SNL was an "unfair boys' club" back before TinaFey turned it around and showed that crude, satirical humor knows no gender.
