* Applejack, Apple Bloom and Big Macintosh from ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' are under the care of Granny Smith. Possibly applies more to the elder siblings given Granny's ailing health, which may or may not include the early stages of dementia; Apple Bloom was probably raised more by [[PromotionToParent her older siblings]]. Canon has yet to explicitly address the question of what happened to their parents.
** WordOfGod says that a pair of shooting stars AJ sees in Apple Family Reunion represent her parents, who are in fact deceased. In Season 5, Applejack wishes "Mom and Dad could be here" when Apple Bloom [[spoiler: gets her cutie mark]].
*** And in the Season 7 episode "The Perfect Pear", it's heavily implied that their parents indeed have passed away.

somewhat senile, it's heavily sometimes implied that their parents indeed have passed away.to be a mix between this trope and Big Mac having received a PromotionToParent.
