But once Sonny takes over the crew, he makes it clear early that he doesn't like Nicky's jokes, even slapping him hard across the face after telling one. However, Nicky is also revealed to be selling drugs in secret, which is a big no-no in the Mafia. Later, he is killed and dismembered after Sonny accuses him of being a rat. Donnie and Lefty have debate about whether Nicky's death was justified. Lefty admits that Nicky's death could of been because he was a rat, or because Sonny simply found him annoying and wanted him gone. Either way, as a boss he can make that choice.
