* ''VideoGame/UltimaIV'' is ''entirely made'' of this trope. See, in all previous ''Franchise/{{Ultima}}'' games, you defeated supreme evil... and now there are no more bad guys to fight aside from random monsters in dungeons. What's your goal? To become a Messiah!

* In TheStinger of ''WesternAnimation/FindingNemo'' the Tank Gang succeed in their plan to escape their aquarium, only for Bloat to ask this when they realize they have no way to get out of the plastic bags they were put in.

* In one ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'' parodying ''VideoGame/SpaceInvaders'', two of the aliens decide to drop down and destroy the player, then one of them asks this.

* ''[[KnightsOfTheOldRepublic KOTOR]] II'' was supposed to end with the main cast flying away from Malachor V in the ''Ebon Hawk''. Atton would then ask the Exile "So...where're we going now?"

* ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity'' ends on this note. Batman simply leaves the city [[spoiler:carrying SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker[='s=] poisoned corpse out with him]], leaving a crowd of prisoners, citizens, and GCPD members alike to wonder exactly what happened in the city during the past twelve hours.

* A more serious case, at the end of the ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' film "Predacons Rising" once Megatron has been [[spoiler: freed from Unicrons control, he comes to the realization that he's now totally alone in the universe; he doesn't stay on Cybertron (he knows he'd probably no longer be welcome), and he no longer has any desire to lead the Decepticons in conquest (he goes so far as to officially disband the group)]].

* At the end of ''Film/ForceTenFromNavarone'', the Force Ten team has successfully destroyed the bridge that the Germans needed to assault the partisan base. Unfortunately, that leaves them on the German side of a now-uncrossable river, with all their allies on the other side of the river. They're a long way from Allied territory, and they used up all their gear during the mission. So now what?

They're a long way from also behind enemy lines in the middle of Yugoslavia, with the nearest Allied territory, front being in northern Italy, and they used up all their gear during the mission. So now what?

* In ''Literature/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy'' series, there is literally a planet called "Now What?", named after the first words spoken by the astronauts after claiming the planet as their civilisation.

* For ''Anime/{{Robotech}}'' fans, one of the most fascinating things about the series is that it contains so ''many'' of these events, but always takes up the challenge to show what comes next. Two of these come from the "three-shows-in-one" nature of the series, of course, but one of the biggest NowWhat moments happens two thirds of the way through the original ''Anime/{{Macross}}'' segment. The show is really worth watching to learn how to write without succumbing to the easy way out (that is, just declaring "The End"), and to always address the ''consequences'' of the events you have written.

* In ''VideoGame/Klonoa2LunateasVeil'', it's strongly hinted that Klonoa has divine blood and that his forced wanderings are serving some greater purpose. The game ends just as he's being drawn out of Lunatea. Namco never released another ''VideoGame/{{Klonoa}}'' game.
