* Toilets are one of the things the developer is explicitly ''not'' adding in ''VideoGame/DwarfFortress''; most of the playerbase is in agreement that having to design efficient sewer systems for your fortresses is just excessive.

* Some newborn mammals such as small rodents cannot pee or poop unless stimulated by their mothers' bathing them. This may help ensure that their nest doesn't get smelly enough to attract predators in the mother's absence.

* ''Manga/SgtFrog'': Averted normally, and taken UpToEleven in one Kero Zero chapter. [[spoiler:Basically, the mothership taking our heroes to Earth starts rationing all food and water when its onboard farms fail to produce any crop - our heroes wind up holding it all in for a week when they can't even use the toilet, then desperation forces them to dump it all ''all over the onboard farms'', inadvertently fertilising the soil and allowing it to function again. [[CrowningMomentOfFunny They don't actually touch the food produced for some time, though.]]]]

* ''Manga/CityHunter'': Lampshaded in the second Union Teope arc: after finding out that Ryo had not left her behind to go into battle but was in the toilet, Kaori screamed at him that nobody had ever heard of an hero that goes to poop before the battle, only for Ryo to reply that it's the smart thing to do (and calling her constipated).

* Averted for plot development in ''Film/TheBigHit'' when Keiko, being held prisoner by Mel with her hands tied, needs to go to the bathroom and Mel demonstrates how sweet and considerate he is. What does that little smile mean?
* Averted in the 1962 film "Only Two Can Play" when protagonist John Lewis (Peter Sellers) is shaving: <flush sound>--Lewis wrinkles nose, grampa emerges from WC adjacent to sink, Lewis pulls Air Wick deodorizer wick out a bit further. Shows the cramped working-class life Lewis leads, which upper-class Liz will later threaten to brighten up.

* Parodied and lampshaded in one episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{Sixteen}}'' where Jonesey walks in on Nikki in the bathroom. It's explained to him that now he's aware that women are "just as gross" as men and will never be attracted to them the same way again.

* Never happens in the WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes universe. At least in the original cartoons. In WesternAnimation/BabyLooneyTunes, it was a little different.
* Lampshaded in ''WesternAnimation/TheClevelandShow'' by two viewers outside of the 4th wall.
* The title characters of ''WesternAnimation/RenAndStimpy'' are occasionally seen sitting on the toilet, and from time to time the mother of the boy whose house they were staying at would inform them that "Cartoon characters don't need to use the bathroom!"
