** VideoGame/Persona 5: While there's no transformation involved, most of the party's other selves still mirror their appearance in some way:
*** Arsène shares the protagonist's penchant for classy attire and black and red color scheme. Tying into the mask motif, Arsène looks to have a mask for a face.

*** Carmen has twintails like Ann, but makes them much larger. She also wears a panther mask, copying Ann's cat motif.
*** The NoseArt on Captain Kidd's boat mirrors Ryuji's own razor sharp teeth in his All-Out Attack portrait, and Ryuji's skull mask obviously references Captain Kidd being a skeleton.
*** Both Morgana and Zorro are comically top heavy. In a more traditional shapeshifting example, Morgana, naturally, shares his fur color and patterns between his humanoid and house cat forms. Less noticeably, his house cat collar is the same yellow as the bandana he wears in his other form.
*** When party members are turned into mice via either a status effect or a dungeon gimmick, they retain their masks and their eye colors.

** The masks in VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask. Link always has his green hat, though it becomes the size of his entire body in deku form for some reason, and in zora form it's the tail-like head extension painted green.

** The sequels don't have the clothing match-up, though the Omnitrix symbol remains. It turns out that this is the Omnitrix itself, which changes size and shape to fit its user in any form. The fact that it has a built-in limiter and Ben hasn't mastered it is why he can't change at will from one form to another just by touching the Omnitrix in any form. (Also, it's for this reason that it's supposed to always appear in easy reach on the chest as in AF and UA, not in a random place as seen in the original series.

** In VideoGame/Catherine, all the characters that appeared in both the Nightmare and Stray Sheep retained elements of their design in the Nightmare, despite being sheep. Even Vincent, although we don't see him as a Sheep, is referenced to be a sheep with a fro.

* In Webcomic/TheSanityCircus, an Instruman's human form resembles their instrument form. Luther (the cello) has a long brown coat with a long black division down the centre and black embellishments on the sleeves resembling string instrument sound holes. Steven (the flute) has a long silver outfit with many band and buttons for the buttons on the flute. Their WeaponOfChoice resembles their instrumental form too - Luther has a bow cutlass, and Steven carries a shotgun.
** Steven's MismatchedEyes in human form is apparently a carry-over from the damage he sustained as a flute before being brought to life.

* WesternAnimation/TeenTitans: Beast Boy can transform into any animal, but they were always green. And when Mumbo transforms him, he can transform into any inanimate object but, again, he's always green. His EvilKnockoff can do the same, but he's always blue.

Named after a not-so-popular hypothesis by biologist Rupert Sheldrake, in which the forms of organisms are imprinted upon "morphic fields", which in turn influence the forms of subsequent organisms (at least, before the term was hijacked by science fiction authors to name this trope's concept). May be brought upon by being a BalefulPolymorph. See also ShapeshifterDefaultForm, and ShapeshiftingExcludesClothing.
