Further, men are often portrayed as [[MenUseViolenceWomenUseCommunication not being capable of anything BUT physical force to make their points]]. Often despite the target audience being themselves male, [[ParentingTheHusband guys are portrayed as dumb, childlike, blunt instruments]] who [[MenCantKeepHouse can't do anything right if it involves becoming "domesticated"]]. When that happens, a former badass will turn into a JadedWashout, and possibly a FatSlob. His only means of domestic problem-solving will involve PercussiveMaintenance or TimTaylorTechnology with marginal degrees of success. When it comes to their own children, domesticated men will often be [[BumblingDad bumbling wrecks]], [[OverprotectiveDad over-compensating in aggression]], or [[WhenYouComingHomeDad completely disinterested altogether]]. In short, these domesticated men are portrayed as having something "wrong" with them, due to being removed from fields of violence, power, or non-domestic achievement. In the event that a man is not acting like the in-charge, tough guy he should be, the only things that can cure him are ToughLove or PercussiveTherapy (especially [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan if the percussion is on HIM]]).

* OverprotectiveDad: The usual attitude of fathers towards their daughters is fierce and over-reacting aggression towards anyone who as much as ''appears'' to be getting friendly with her.

* AllWomenAreDomsAllMenAreSubs: Women are typically portrayed as dominatrices in fiction, because it's considered less uncomfortable than a man dominating a woman.

* WorldsStrongestMan: This trope taken UpToEleven. While all men are tough, this one is the toughest of the lot!

Regardless, a man being in a dominant, physical role is seen as natural while a woman in the same role is [[ActionGirl treated as exceptional]]. Even if a woman ''does'' take on a physical role, there still exist tropes which portray her as less tough than her male counterparts such as GuysSmashGirlsShoot, MaleMightFemaleFinesse, SheFu, or WaifFu.

* BastardBoyfriend: He mistreats his fragile girlfriend (or a less sociopathic boyfriend), but it's played for the titillation of a female audience.

* BastardGirlfriend: An abusive, creepy, or violent woman is played for fetish.

* BaldHeadOfToughness: Most examples are of men in order to reinforce the idea that men are tough

* HumanMomNonHumanDad: Frequently used for instances where [[PunyEarthlings weak human]] mothers are abducted, raped, or otherwise inseminated with the child of a more powerful non-human species.

* HouseHusband: A man who does the housekeeping while his wife is the breadwinner. This is considered atypical of gender roles.

* StuffedIntoTheFridge: A woman is brutally killed off in order to provide conflict or motivation for a man.

* ManlyFacial hair: Facial hair makes a man appear tough and masculine.

* BadassBeard: A beard makes a man appear tough and rugged.
* BadassMustache: Not quite as potent as a beard, but often a more distinguished form of masculine badassery.

* FemaleGroinInvincibility: Females are immune to {{groin attack}}s.
