* Averted by all the main characters in the ''WhateleyUniverse'': most of the transformations were gradual, and those which weren't were generally too traumatic to lead to any kind of self-exploration. The closest anyone has come to this on-screen were the Crystal Wavers, who were less experimenting with their switched bodies than trying to convince themselves that it hadn't really happened, and Jobe, who didn't so much explore herself as give herself a full medical exam.

* Defied in ''ComicBook/RachelRising'' when Jet's body is taken over by her past life incarnation, James, who died when he was in his late teens or so. Jet's best friend Rachel anticipates this trope and warns James not to take any liberties with Jet's body. James, who is pretty thoroughly flummoxed both by being in the body of woman ''and'' [[FishOutOfTemporalWater being in the early 21st century instead of mid 17th]], (including having to navigate what is the everyday to us but a completely the alien environment to him) is shocked at the suggestion and makes it pretty clear that the idea hadn't even occurred to him.

* A rare female-to-male case in ''[[WalkyVerse It's Walky!]]'' when a suddenly male Joyce declares "Ultimate test!" and stuffs her (his) hand down her (his) pants. And then freaks out almost immediately. Walky, who's been turned into a woman, does the same thing. The difference is, Joyce has to tell him to take his hand out of his pants.

* Subverted in Sally Potter's film adaptation of the Creator/VirginiaWoolf novel ''Literature/OrlandoABiography''. Orlando (played by TildaSwinton) wakes up as a woman, a change instigated by his refusal to "be a man" during the battle the previous night; she looks in the mirror naked and says, "Same person. No difference at all... just a different sex."
