* O'ne the Creator in ''Comicbook/TheGreatPowerofChninkel''. The Almighty Creator is willing to annihilate an entire planet and its life but not willing to just kill the three warring immortals Itself. [[spoiler: O'ne actually ''does'' kill almost all life (save a few tawals living underground) by raining fire on the planet's surface. The reason? The heretic king N'om [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech called It out on Its dickery]] and how everything was a conspiracy to make everyone worship It for all eternity. Though at the very least he kept his promise not to destroy Darr.]]

* ''VideoGames/{{Smite}}'', being a crossover between Gods from various mythologies, naturally have a lot of high-and-mighty jackass Gods here and there. But worth mentioning is Ra from the EgyptianMythology. He used to be a bonafide GodOfGood, but after he was poisoned by Isis in her bid to save Egypt, [[StartOfDarkness he went mad from the pain]] and nearly had his daughter Hathor obliterate Egypt before he changed his mind, and then settles in the middle road: Being a condescending bird-God.

** Stretched to unsurprisingly baleful extremes with his wife Hera. Who, after ascending Olympus's throne, went so far as to attempt to erase reality through a washover of antimatter saving only those most faithful to her religion and selfish whims. Even then she was a cruel, abusive and self-obsessed paranoiac who treated her own flesh & blood kids like throw rugs whenever she'd throw a hissy fit.

** The Future Trunks Saga of ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' has an example with Zamasu, an apprentice [[TopGod Supreme Kai]] from [[AlternateUniverse Universe 10]]. He's firmly convinced that ''all'' mortals are stupid, brutal beings who never learn from their mistakes, to the extent that he [[FinalSolution suggests just wiping them all out]], and outright tells his master Gowasu that [[TheGodsMustBeLazy the Kais' decision to merely watch rather than directly interfere]] is a sin. In the BadFuture that Future Trunks hails from, Zamasu has completely [[spoiler:[[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope Jumped Off the Slippery Slope]] and is actively working with [[EvilTwin Goku Black]], a like-minded OmnicidalManiac and [[AlternateSelf another version of himself]] that [[GrandTheftMe stole Goku's body before killing his loved ones]], to wipe out the human race]].

* In ''Manga/FairyTail'', Ankhseram, the god of life and death, might be one of the greatest Jerkass Gods that anime has ever seen. He cursed Zeref, [[spoiler: who just wanted to bring his beloved younger brother back]], and Mavis, [[spoiler: who used an incomplete Law to save her friend]], with the Contradiction Curse, a curse that makes them kill everything around them just for valuing life. [[spoiler: When the two fell in love with each other, [[KissOfDeath Zeref's curse killed Mavis, just to make sure they would ever be happy]] ]]. Mavis was greatly [[BreakTheCutie heartbroken]], but Zeref had it much worse, and after 400 years of enduring the curse, culminating in him [[spoiler:being denied a chance with the love of his life and the one person who ever made him happy]], finally [[ThenLetMeBeEvil snapped]] and decided to [[PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery wipe out]] [[OmnicidalManiac humanity]].

** The Literature/BookOfJob provides some fine examples of divine jerkassitude. The Jewish God ruins Job's life, up to and including killing his children, to prove some rather elusive point.

*** Then ''Ghost of Sparta'' reveals the reason of said acquired jerkassery: [[spoiler: The gods imprisoned his brother in the Realm of Death till adulthood, out of fear he was the Marked One destined to kill the Gods (Actually Kratos). Then Thanatos kill his brother, all under the order of the Gods, particularly Zeus]]. In fact, if Gods just never messed with Kratos, he probably wouldn't even be so destructive, but when you combine Badass [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Spartan]] attitude with being a CosmicPlaything and a [[spoiler: Demigod]], shit tends to hit the fan.

* The gods in ''VideoGame/PillarsOfEternity'' tend towards this. Even the generally benevolent Eothas ([[GodIsDead while he still lived]]), Hylea and Berath are absolutely ''[[DisproportionateRetribution brutal]]'' if crossed, leaving significant collateral damage in their wake. The rest tend towards sometimes-inscrutable BlueAndOrangeMorality, with special credit going to Skaen, the god of hate, who rewards his followers for petty cruelty and engages more or less routinely in HumanSacrifice, and Woedica, goddess of vengeance, [[spoiler:the BiggerBad who has been devouring unborn souls for power]]. The kicker? [[spoiler:All of the gods were ''man-made'' through animancy. The Engwithans apparently believed that a world run by JerkassGods was preferable to a world with no gods at all.]]
