[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishikawa_Goemon Goemon Ishikawa]] was a former {{ninja}} gone rogue and a Japanese equivalent of RobinHood, whose story is still featured in many Kabuki plays.

This legendary rogue is ShroudedInMyth and has given birth to many tales and myths. He was known for trying to assassinate ToyotomiHideyoshi for a reason (some say he [[ItsPersonal had his wife killed]], others that he wanted [[JusticeWillPrevail to stop a tyrant]]), but was caught when he accidentally knocked off a bell. He was [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath boiled alive in a iron kettle]] [[KickTheDog along with his son]]. With the last of his strength, he [[PapaWolf held the child]] [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming out of]] [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/39/Excecution_of_Goemon_Ishikawa.jpg/220px-Excecution_of_Goemon_Ishikawa.jpg the kettle]].

Traditionally, Goemon tends to be portrayed as a GentlemanThief and a LargeHam, often with Kabuki mannerism and [[AnimeHair huge, afro-like hair]].

!!Works that features Goemon:

[[AC:{{Anime}} and {{Manga}}]]
* ''LupinIII'' has [[MasterSwordsman Goemon Ishikawa XIII]], descendant of the real deal. In ''Dragon of Doom'', Goemon is introduced watching the 400th anniversary of the Kabuki play about his ancestor.
* ''Manga/{{Yaiba}}'' features Goemon in all his characteristics: Ninja-like outfit, Kabuki face paint, huge hair, oversized Kiseru and at least one cover reference his "bath". This one, however, can use FuumaShuriken and can turn [[OneWingedAngel in a Bear man.]]

[[AC:{{Film}} - Live Action]]
* The assassination attempt on Film/JamesBond in ''Film/YouOnlyLiveTwice'' was attributed to Goemon himself (note: said method, involving a rope and a bottle of poison, is shown in ''Yaiba'' too, seen above).

[[AC:VideoGames]]
* ''SamuraiWarriors'' features Goemon as a playable character, armed with a [[CarryABigStick club]] and a [[{{BFG}} ''cannon'']] strapped to the back. Unlike his historical counterpart, he survives the boiling. He also has a relationship with [[BrainlessBeauty Okuni]] the [[FridgeBrilliance foundress of Kabuki]].
* ''GanbareGoemon'' features a [[ImprobableWeaponUser kiseru-wielding Goemon]] as main character.
