* The Ketaks (Atlantean flying vehicles shaped like various sea creatures) from Disney's ''WesternAnimation/AtlantisTheLostEmpire''. They are apparently activated by having a small Atlantean Crystal inserted into a slot, and turned back quarter-way, much like how an actual car is started up.

* Not a machine, but definitely an "it", was the flying/swimming steed on Kamino, during ''Film/AttackOfTheClones''.

** In ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'' the titular ship's FTLTestBlunder results in an oceangoing aircraft carrier and an amphibious assault ship that were docked at South Ataria Island coming along for the ride and being stuck in vacuum. Thanks to the former being built to be hermetically sealed against NBC threats and the latter being semi-submersible in the first place they're fairly easy to convert into add-on modules for the Macross on its slower-than-light journey back to Earth.

** Anime/CaptainHarlock's ship, the ''Arcadia'', inverts it: it was built as a space battleship, but can go underwater - and actually does it quite often.

Compare with FlyingSeafoodSpecial, where the inexplicably flying aquatic entities are ''living organisms''.

So, you've got a nice team of heroes, each with a specialty and associated GiantRobot or vehicle. A fiery leader, a strong man, a flying ace, TheHeart for good measure, and a naval master.

* The T-Sub of ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' quickly became the T-Ship as more episodes took them into space. Cyborg Lampshades this the first time. "The T-Sub was made for deep sea, not deep space!" He makes it work though.
