* A VerySpecialEpisode of ''Series/FullHouse'' has D.J. starving herself and overexercising to the point of passing out at the gym, in an effort to make herself look more like Aunt Becky. The episode ends with Becky giving her a speech about how she went through a chubby phase too, and eventually her body grew into her weight. Candace Cameron-Bure is not now, and was not then, noticeably any fuller-figured than Lori Loughlin.

* In one scene ''Film/TheIncredibles'', Helen sees herself in the mirror when she's wearing her new superhero outfit, and lets out a sigh, clearly not pleased with the HartmanHips she's developed over the past 15 years. WordOfGod confirms this trope was deliberately invoked as she is being overly critical of her own physique.

* ''Series/LawAndOrderUK'''s DS Ronnie Brooks is relentlessly teased about his weight and BigEater habits even though he's moderately overweight at worst and looks basically like your average middle-aged man. In RealLife, his actor, Bradley Walsh, ''gained'' weight for the part.

* PlayedForLaughs in ''WebAnimation/RWBYChibi''. One segment had Yang realize she looked a little fat (despite looking normal) and perform a strenuous exercise routine. She seems proud of being fit until she sees Nora pack away an entire cake and burp it all away, which pisses her off.

She seems proud of being fit until she sees Nora pack away an entire cake and burp it all away, which pisses her off. Another segment had Ren comment on how Jaune needed to lose weight. The problem in both cases is that neither Yang nor Jaune look any fatter than their normal shape, or any different than the other character models.

* The protagonist of the Creator/DanielleSteel novel ''Big Girl'' might be this. Despite her constant insecurities about her weight, it's mentioned that she's a size 12. While not thin, she's got a few more sizes to go before being considered fat or obese.

* Dolphin-Boy from ''WesternAnimation/Sealab2021'' is legitimately pudgy, more so than a kid his size probably should be, but everyone at Sealab treats him like he's morbidly obese and harass him over it.

* In ''Film/MeanGirls'', Regina "gets fat" and her friends ditch her. The actress herself doesn't seem to gain a noticeable amount of weight. This could be a reference to the trope, though, as gaining any weight at all would make her 'fat' to her shallow, image-obsessed friends.

This could be a reference to The weight gain isn't that noticeable, but it gets her kicked out of the Plastics. Presumably it's a mockery of this trope, though, as gaining any weight at all would make her 'fat' to her shallow, image-obsessed friends.Regina is considered fat because she can't fit into a size 5 dress.

* The character played by tall, lanky Creator/AnneHathaway in ''Literature/TheDevilWearsPrada'' was considered fat at a size 6. It was intended to show the shallowness of the fashion industry. Later in the movie she's down to a size 4, showing how far she's fallen in her principles. [[BrokenAesop And her size and weight are never mentioned again afterward, so we can assume she stayed at size 4]]. Ironically, Hathaway gained weight in order to play the character, but when the designer clothes wardrobe had selected for her didn't fit, she had to lose weight to be a size 2-4 to fit into those clothes.

* PM Hugh Grant in ''Film/LoveActually'' is into his cute tea maid (Martine [=McCutcheon=]) at Downing Street, even though she's constantly referred to as "fat" by everyone else. The PM character is bewildered that all of the other characters seem to have reached a consensus about her supposed fatness, since he couldn't see it at all.

* ''Series/TotalDivas'' references this a few times:
** "The Fat Twin" has Nikki discovering a fan calling her fat on instagram, and she spends the episode getting fat-shamed by Brie. Likewise Brie panics before a photoshoot and tries to do a thirty-day juice cleanse - essentially drinking nothing but juice for a month. Nikki has said in interviews that she is naturally much bigger than Brie and had to do daily ab and cardio workouts to match her sister's body type.
** Eva Marie frets about a photoshoot after being injured for a while, and goes crazy in the gym trying to lose weight. It's revealed that she has ''massive'' body image issues.

** Another unfortunate case from the series is Karen's cousin [[http://willandgrace.wikia.com/wiki/Barry Barry]], who receives a makeover from Will and Jack in Season 5. He has only the ''slightest'' hint of a gut pre-makeover, but to hear Jack talk, he's a whale -- in fact, we're told Jack sent Barry to "fat camp" in the time between his first appearance and his second. (But again, this ''is'' Jack we're talking about; Will seems to be focused more on Barry's lack of style and social graces than his weight.)

* A non-human example in ''Series/TwoBrokeGirls'': in "And The Reality Check," a stable-owner tells Caroline that her horse Chestnut is out of shape. That would be perfectly realistic, of course, since Chestnut had been living in Max's tiny backyard and had not been getting proper exercise. The problem is that the horse who plays Chestnut is of course very well cared for and is in great shape. This clearly falls under AcceptableBreaksFromReality.
