*A hero example in ''Fanfic/TheKeysStandAlone: The Soft World'': Paul interposes himself between an annoying civilian and the end of the line they're standing on, because Paul is pissed at the way the civilian treated a couple of [[{{Demihuman}} Svenjaya]] ahead of him. Paul basically says, “You'll have to go through me to go through that door we're on line for, unless you apologize to the Svenjaya.” The guy isn't quite stupid enough to physically challenge Paul, but tries to go around him. Paul takes the guy by the sleeve and [[SuperStrength applies enough pressure to the cloth to render it into dust]]. The civilian runs away.

* From the TableTopGame/IronKingdoms, we have High Paladin Dartan Vilmon, who was ordered to [[KillEmAll Purge a town of "heretics"]] by the power-mad Heirarch Voyle. Vilmon turned on the Menite army and told them "[[YouShallNotPass You're going to have to get past me]]." Note that Vilmon is actually BadAss enough to win.

When this is done by a {{Badass}}, you have IAmYourOpponent. This act may cause the enemy to [[ScrewThisImOutOfHere reconsider the wisdom of the current course of action]], lead to an epic showdown as they proceed to back up their challenge... or be a setup for TheWorfEffect as the villain proceeds to plow through the badass without breaking stride.

* In the second season of ''Anime/CodeGeass'', Urabe of the Four Holy Swords does this in order to let Lelouch/Zero and Kallen get away from the Britannian SuperPrototype that's single-handedly holding all three off. Before this, Urabe was generally seen as [[ThoseTwoGuys That One Guy]] and the least distinct member of the Holy Swords; afterwards, the fandom gave him a posthumous promotion to {{Badass}}.
