* Happens pretty often in Series/SiliconValley. The only character who had a girlfriend for any amount of time was Gilfoyle. Dinesh and Richard have had a handful of girls of the week, and one episode implies that the seemingly shy and awkward Jared ReallyGetsAround when he wants to, but there haven't been any relationships lasting more than a few episodes.

* The Jennifer Morgue discusses, lampshades, and generally plays hell with this trope: the opposition is using a Hero-trap geas, meaning that all efforts to oppose him will be funneled into the TheoryOfNarrativeCausality; since he cast himself as the villain, he can only be successfully resisted by a Film/JamesBond archetype, which is played by Bob. He is quickly paired up with a female Black Chamber agent, making her a Bond girl. [[spoiler:And then the trope is turned completely upside down: it turns out that Angleton was able to successfully end-run the geas by making Bob's girlfriend, Mo, the true Bond-figure in the geas, meaning that Bob is the actual Bond girl, allowing Mo to save the day in a Bond-worthy BigDamnHeroes moment. The narrative also notes that there's almost always two Bond girls, one "light", one "ActionGirl", thus making room for the Black Chamber agent in the geas.]]

* Star Trek: Mirror uses the long tradition of this trope appearing in Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries to subvert it - the reboot version of Kirk automatically assumes that his Mirror counterpart and the Mirror version of Marlena Moreau have a thing going on, but she drops the act as soon as they're alone - Mirror Kirk uses her as a convenient smokescreen to keep people targeting his actual lover (the Mirror version of Spock).
