** Subverted in Anime/TheLastNarutoTheMovie, the first Canon movie of the franchise. It's an Interquel between the second-to-last chapter and the epilogue, so the "girl" of the movie is also the main love interest and the one Naruto gets HappilyMarried to: . The movie is the tale of how they fell in love, after the long and hard road that was the entire main series.

** Some of the more cohesive filler arcs during the gap between the end of Part I and the beginning of Shippuden also brought this into play. This adds two female daimyos, a handful of kunoichi, and one girl with a bad skin condition to Naruto's roster. Of these, exactly one has appeared as a background character since then and she was rooting for Gaara.

** More like Girl of the Movie as the Filler movies seem to love this trope. Naruto's had at least one older woman giving him a kiss, a DamselInDistress literally offering to have his babies (which, due to the way she phrased it, Naruto unwittingly accepts), and in the second Shipuuden movie he ends up with the current girl clutching him to her chest (it would be MarshmallowHell if she had bigger... tracts of land) while tearfully claiming that she'd never leave him... Being Filler non-canonical of course, not one of them ever shows up again.
