* Admiral Gideon Gorelieu, in ''[[Fanfic/HauntedMansionAndTheHatboxGhost The Haunted Mansion: Mystery of the Vanishing Hatbox]]'', is the ghost of a pirate, and still wears the grand, shiny admiral suit, although he doesn't sail the sees but rather haunts the manor he bought with his loot at the end of his life.

** Played with in an episode of WesternAnimation/APupNamedScoobyDoo, as a man impersonates the ghost said to haunt a house. His disguise is clearly pirate themed. But the real ghost ends up not even being pirate-related at all. Talk about a CriticalResearchFailure.
