* In WesternAnimation/DuckTales and WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck, Launchpad [=McQuack=] is the strongest member of the regular casts and towers over most of them, but he'd never hurt a fly.

* Creator/RoaldDahl's title character in Literature/TheBFG. All the other Giants are monstrous Child Eaters though.
** Somewhat subverted, actually. By Giant standards, the BFG is very small.

though. Somewhat subverted, actually. By subverted when you consider that by Giant standards, the BFG is very small.

* WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldofGumball has Hector, who is a massive ape like creature, who although seems menacing, is actually very gentle. Because of this, he is often seen as boring to his class mates. In "The Colossus", it is shown why he lives a "boring" life, [[spoiler: which is because, as a giant, he can be very destructive when excited.]]

* VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim has tribes of giants, who are quite peaceful, and won't attack anyone unless provoked. They're also very powerful, and are known to kill even dragons if they come too close.
** While the in-game backstory says this, it falls apart under AI limitations. Namely if you pass within spell-casting distance of a giant camp, said giant and his pet mammoth will hunt you down and smash you into the lower atmosphere. One random encounter involves meeting a farmer leading a painted cow to a giant that lives close by, as a peace offering that is done every now and then so the giant will not hunt the rest of the farmer's livestock. He'll even ask you to stay away because the giant could think you are part of the offering. If the player chooses to actually follow him to the camp, the giant will kill the farmer once he gets too close.
** The backstory isn't always consistent, either. The player will witness giants attacking a farm and an orc stronghold, which are far enough from giant camps that it's unlikely to be the result of a provocation. There's also one camp where dead Khajiit merchants can be found, despite the sign on the road warning wandering caravans to stay away because this particular giant is known for being extra territorial.
** As far as named [=NPCs=] are concerned, the Companions guild has Farkas, one of the warriors of the Circle. Some of the blacksmiths would also qualify, such as Balimund in Riften. This is a logical TruthInTelevision since blacksmithing requires great patience and provides a hell of an upper-body workout.

* VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Franchise/TheElderScrolls
** The series
has tribes a race of giants, Giants who generally play this trope straight. Giants typically keep to themselves and don't interact much with the other races. As long as they are quite peaceful, and won't attack anyone unless provoked. They're also very powerful, and not provoked (by attacking them directly, attacking their mammoth herds, or by entering their camps) they generally will not attack. That said, they do provide aversions in the form of OffscreenVillainy. Giants are known to kill even dragons if they come too close.
** While the in-game backstory says this, it falls apart under AI limitations. Namely if you pass within spell-casting distance
raid farms, steal livestock, and attack settlements. However, outside of a giant camp, said giant and his pet mammoth will hunt you down and smash you into the lower atmosphere. One random encounter involves meeting a farmer leading a painted cow to a giant that lives close by, as a peace offering that is done every now and then so the giant will few exceptions with justifications, Giants have not hunt the rest of the farmer's livestock. He'll even ask you to stay away because the giant could think you are part of the offering. If the player chooses to actually follow him to the camp, the giant will kill the farmer once he gets too close.
** The backstory isn't always consistent, either. The player will witness giants
been seen attacking a farm unprovoked in-game. Additionally, there are mentions of Giants attacking and even forming armies in the backstory. The ancient Giant Clan led by Sinmur the Terrible is one such example. Sinmur led an orc stronghold, which are far enough from giant camps army of hundreds of Giants against the forces of the Atmoran Ysgramor and his 500 Companions. Both sides suffered massive casualties, but the war ended when Ysgramor personally slew Sinmur.
** Skyrim provides examples with some [=NPCs=]. Being the first game in the series
that it's unlikely to be doesn't simply use the result same body model for all members of a provocation. There's also one camp where dead Khajiit merchants can be found, despite the sign on the road warning wandering caravans to stay away because this particular giant is known for being extra territorial.
** As far as named [=NPCs=]
same race, some individuals are concerned, the Companions guild has bigger and more muscular than others. Farkas, one a member of the warriors of the Circle. Companions, is a big Nord with a claymore and , but is quite gentle when not out on a mission. Some of the blacksmiths would also qualify, such as Balimund in Riften. This is a logical TruthInTelevision since blacksmithing requires great patience and provides a hell of an upper-body workout.

* Tionishia from Manga/DailyLifeWithMonsterGirl is an eight-foot-tall ogre girl who also happens to be the friendliest and most personable member of her team, despite being their primary muscle. There's even an entire chapter devoted to her "calming aura", which all but sucks the stress and/or anger out of anyone spending time with her.
