Makes sense from the villains' point of view, since the protagonists' rings stop working if the area is heavily contaminated with environmental pollutants. * In an early chapter of the Manga/LupinIII manga, a guard said Lupin would be heading to the GasChamber. [[SympatheticInspectorAntagonist Inspector Zenigata]] knows that the method of execution at this particular joint is the electric chair and any guard would've known that. He has just enough time to figure out the guard is actually Lupin in disguise before Lupin [[XanatosBackfire uses this knowledge against him]] and he sets off to rescue the guard Lupin sent to be electrocuted in his place. This story was adapted into the Anime/LupinIIIGreenJacket episode [[Recap/LupinIIIS1E4 "One Chance to Breakout"]].
