A character, often but not AlwaysFemale and the hero of the piece, is shown to be almost supernaturally innocent, sweet, altruistic, or any combination thereof, by the way that all manner of wild forest creatures flock to her. Deer will shyly eat out of her hand, chipmunks will frolic at her feet, and birds will alight on her finger, shoulder or head (and not void their bowels while doing so). If the character is male (usually in reference to St. Francis of Assisi being the patron saint of animals) he will instead be shown as wise, calm and kind-hearted. Any other person approaching will break the spell and send the timid woodland animals fleeing, but not before they witness the supernatural wonder of his or her loving heart in action.

** Franchise/Superman, naturally since he was raised on a farm Clark loves a lot of animals: dogs like Hank (The Kent's dog) and Krypto the Superdog as well as horses like Comet the Superhorse. Supes even keeps alien creatures in containers inside the Fortress of Solitude since his "no-killing" code "usually" keeps from harming anything even if they invade Earth. However the same cannot be said for the poor Kryptonian dragon, Superman encountered in ComicBook/New52 who Clark killed mercilessly.

** Damian Wayne of all people is this, developing an animal-collecting habit. He has a dog (Titus), a cat (Alfred), a cow (Bat-Cow), and a weird big red demon thing. He declared himself a vegetarian after adopting Bat-Bow, who now alternates between the Batcave and the manor grounds and has stopped at least one bad guy.

*** [[spoiler: There's tear jerking moment in a Whatif scenario where Catwoman after living a life time with married to Batman finds a kitten in the Batmobile after Bruce dies of old age. On the kitten's collar there's a final letter from "the Bat to the Cat"]].

** Chopper is a friend to (almost) all living creatures, fitting since as a talking Reindeer he's one of them though since he ate the Human-Human fruit he technically belongs to both species, Chopper's animals communication ability also is very useful for the heroes at times. Chopper dislikes carnivorous creatures however.

*** Ashitaka is more up-beat version of this, he rides elk and hesitates before killing the demon boar that attacks his village and gets a cursed arm as result. Even when his cursed arm urges him to kill the Forest Spirit, he plunges his arm to water resisting to murderous intent, Ashitaka earns the respect of Moro, San and the other wolves and animals though the Boar God Okkoto is pissed when the Forest Spirit chooses to revive Ashitaka since he is a human.

** Apis from the Filler Warship island arc, her Devil Fruit power Whisper-Whisper Fruit grants her the ability to talk to them, so naturally she befriends a dragon.

** Nefeltari Vivi as Princess of course is this trope, besides from her constant companion Carue the massive spot-billed duck she adores the creatures of her kingdom except the extremely dangerous ones; Vivi is also very protective of them as she knocked Luffy, Zoro and Sanji down when they tried to eat the Sea Cat as the creature scared is to her culture.

** The titular and fierce Anime/PrincessMononoke aka San is dark and tragic version of this trope, having been thrown at feet of Moro the Wolf God by her parents she was raised as part of the wolf pack. San despises her own kind and ferociously attacks the humans who hurt the forest and animals, not until Ashitaka shows up does she change her mind about at least one human. spoiler: At the movie San refuses to return to humanity despite loving Ashitaka as the humans killed Forest Spirit and though she and Ashitaka returned peace to the land San says she will never forgive the human race.

* Series/WonderWoman: Wonder Woman talks with dogs and birds several times. In "The Girl from Ilandia", she gives telepathic commands to the eponymous Ilandian's rescued dog, Tiger. He is apparently imbued by Wonder Woman with the intelligence to understand fairly complex orders and carry them out. Tiger even tracks down Diana Prince rather than Wonder Woman, although he did it by scent.
--> Wonder Woman: Tiger, you take care of her and if she's in trouble you come and find me. Understand?
--> Tiger: barks (and later carries out these orders to the letter)
