Jail Bait is now a disambiguation. Deleting/replacing wicks as appropriate

A person sexually attracted to late-adolescent minors. [[YouKeepUsingThatWord Not to be confused with]] (and it invariably will be) a pedophile, who is attracted to prepubescent minors (or hebephile, who is attracted to early adolescent minors). Partly this is because pedophiles like to use this term to defend themselves by deliberately blurring the lines between discussion of pedophilia and issues relating to [[JailBait age of consent]].

[[folder: Anime and Manga ]]

* Despite having [[UglyGuyHotWife a quite pretty wife]], Mr. Kimura of ''AzumangaDaioh'' is known for his love of "high school girls".
** In fact, Osaka asks him in the manga whether Chiyo really counts for his liking of high school girls since she's so much more a Grade Schooler. He thinks for a few seconds and then insists: [[{{Squick}} "High School is High School."]] On the other hand, [[ChristmasCake Nyamo]] earns a love letter from him when she wears an [[IncrediblyLamePun old-school]] high school uniform for a costume race.
** Thanks to this, Mr. Kimura is one of the internet's [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo3Tpw-zLkM most popular subjects]] for MemeticMolester.
** Thankfully for everyone (except the person in question), he seems more fixated on Kaorin than anyone else.
** He's kind of funny case, in that he's definitely a creepy pervert, but also happily married to a wonderful woman. It doesn't seem that he'd ever go beyond casual peeping and highly inappropriate comments, though those are creepy enough in their own right.
* Shigure in ''FruitsBasket'' often notes he has love for high school girls.
** He ''sings a song'' about it. 'La La La High School Girls!' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRsOJ6SQD_0 Wanna watch?]]
* [[ChristmasCake Mei Terumi]], the Fifth Mizukage in ''{{Naruto}}'', arguably. The [[HeadbuttThermometer way she checks the temperature]] of her teenage bodyguard Chojuro and her comments about Gaara and Sasuke certainly suggest it.
** And there's Orochimaru, who can possibly be read as an ephebophile, since he (literally) wants Sasuke's body, and has an obsession with the bodies of teenage boys in general. Not to mention how he ends up breaching the personal space of ''a lot'' of people younger than him while making some rather questionable comments about them as well as randomly caressing their faces, [[http://www.mangafox.com/manga/naruto/v38/c345/ with his tongue]] no less.
*** In ''[[HighSchoolAU Konoha Gakuen Den]]'', "Orochimaruko" is portrayed as a transvestite ephebophile who's after Sasuke, which, in turn, ends up {{Squick}}ing most of the cast.
*** Strangely enough, with the exception of Sasuke himself. [[{{Squick}} He likes it]]. In THAT way, apparently (come on, he's ''drooling''!).
* The source of [[{{Gundam}} Char Aznable]]'s status as a MemeticMolester is his fame as this. Considering that he was ''at least'' 20 while Lalah was 16, then he had a relationship with future [[MagnificentBastard Magnificent Bitch]] Haman when she was around the same age, ''and'' used his charm on 13-year-old Quess... huh.
** It became an AscendedMeme in ''CharsCounterattack'', where his DragonWithAnAgenda, Gyunei Guss, tells this to the aforementioned Quess:
---> '''Gyunei:''' Everyone knows the Captain is into young girls, anyway.
** To be fair, however, this has always been kind of ambiguous, relying to some extent or other on supplementary materials--Char may have been in love with Lalah [[OedipusComplex (in some sense of the word)]], but their relationship isn't necessarily depicted as sexual in the original ''MobileSuitGundam'', and in the flashback in Zeta that shows Haman and Char together, they both look the same age they do in the present, with Haman clearly an adult. The spinoff manga ''Char's Deleted Affair'' seems to be the source that suggests Haman was a schoolgirl when she met Char. And to top it all off, Gyunei had a perfectly valid reason to ''lie'' to Quess there, seeing as he wants her himself.
* This is the official reason GreatTeacherOnizuka decided to enter teaching -- he loved looking up high school girl skirts at the mall so much, he figured being a homeroom teacher would simplify the process. [[spoiler: In truth, this is just the reason he gives people. He really does legitimately want to be a [[TitleDrop great teacher]], but somehow finds that reason ''more'' embarrassing then being thought of as a perv.]]
* Misato tongue-kissing Shinji in ''TheEndOfEvangelion''. Prior to that, she had been making innuendo of a similar nature.
* Maybe it's a case of SingleTargetSexuality, considered that she [[DoesNotLikeMen doesn't really like males as a whole]], but [[OnePiece Boa Hancock]], 29 years old, ''does'' have the hots for [[TheHero Luffy]], who happens to be ''17''.
* In SeitokaiYakuindomo, Yokoshima-sensei introduction is shortly followed by a text box popping up saying that she likes young boys. Her comments in Taktoshi's presence do not help.
* Played with in ImoutoWaShishunki, where the chemistry teacher is not afraid to sound like one in order to persuade her class to do better on their tests...and it works!
* Despite her... uh [[FailedASpotCheck "attempts"]] [[CovertPervert to hide it]], ''StarDriver'''s Midori Okamoto is ''very'' into [[{{Bishonen}} school-age prettyboys]].
* The Marionette Master in {{Is}}. [[spoiler: Eugh, poor Iori]]
* [[spoiler: Giriko]] in ''SoulEater''. Not helped by how we find out: [[spoiler: when he pins Maka (who's in an HeroicBSOD state) to a bed, ''by her wrists'', and basically tells her that he'll rape her before killing her.]]
* Akio in ''RevolutionaryGirlUtena''. Akio is a lot older than [[spoiler:Utena who's thirteen/fourteen. In episode 33 Utena is lying on a bed but we only see her face, her bare shoulder, and her hand as she babbles about food and what she should make for lunch tomorrow. At some point she bites on her knuckle, then keeps speaking about the meal in an increasingly desperate and moaning tone. She shudders and shivers repeatedly, then goes still for a millisecond and breathlessly gasps "Tell me..." while the screen goes to black. Soon we see her hand... which holds on a man's dark skinned own. Oh yeah, Utena just had sex with Akio, on-screen.]]

* In the ongoing ''{{Batgirl}}'' series teenager Stephanie Brown has a semi-flirtatious relationship with the thirty-something detective who is shaping up as her [[TheCommissionerGordon contact with the local police]]. It seems primarily harmless, a benign PrecociousCrush, but Commissioner Gordon is none too happy when he notices it. The detective points out that nobody says anything when he talks to Batman, to which Gordon responds that "[[CrowningMomentOfFunny I'm pretty sure Batman's]] ''[[CrowningMomentOfFunny legal]]''!"
* Buddy Bradley's 36-year-old pal Jay:
--> "...I know what you're thinking: that I must be immature, sexually insecure, etc. etc. All of which may be true, but is also besides the point... All I know is what I like... and what I like always turns out to be about half my age."

* In both film adaptions of ''{{Lolita}}'', the eponymous character's age is changed from twelve to fifteen, in order to make the film tamer. VladimirNabokov supported this change, saying that it would be inhumane to use such a young actress to tell the story.
* Crilly (James Nesbitt) from ''{{Film/Cherrybomb}}'' is a middle-aged man having an affair with his daughter's sixteen-year-old friend
* ''{{American Beauty}}'', the protagonist has some pretty intense feelings for his teenaged daughter's friend, Angela. [[spoiler: Though it should be noted that although he's strongly attracted to her physically, he stops being able to see her that way once he realizes she's as ''emotionally'' as mature as a teenage girl, too.]]
* ''HardCandy''
** Technically, the correct term would be "hebephile", since Hayley is 14 years old, [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation supposedly]].
* Source of the most well-known quote from ''DazedAndConfused'':
-->'''Wooderson:''' That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.
* Monty in ''{{Waiting}}...'' will only go after high school girls, despite being in his mid-twenties. He pursues 17-year-old greeter Natasha throughout the movie.
* Inverted in ''{{Leon}}'', ''The Crush'', and to a lesser extent, ''PitchBlack'': Young girls becoming obsessed with older guys.
* Subtext (with ShipTease) in ''TrueGrit'' with Mattie and La Boeuf. Nothing actually happens although some scenes seem to move from BelligerentSexualTension at first and then a milder UnexpressedSexualTension. [[ValuesDissonance Keep in mind that in the 1800s fourteen was not considered un-marriable]].

* In CharlesDickens' novel ''Hard Times'', 50-year-old Mr. Bounderby marries 20-year-old Louisa Gradgrind. However, he'd [[{{Squick}} had his eye on her]] for several years by then... Also, ValuesDissonance.
* Aschenbach in ''{{Death In Venice}}'' is a textbook example.
* In March Laumer's [[Literature/LandOfOz Oz books]], the Shaggy Man is attracted to teenaged girls.
* Blanche Dubois in ''AStreetcarNamedDesire''. This is why she was fired from her teaching job.

[[folder: Live Action TV ]]
* ''Series/LittleHouseOnThePrairie'': In a sense, Almanzo Wilder, who was 10 years older than 15-year-old Laura Ingalls when they consummate their relationship, although he always views her as a headstrong, mature woman. Charles, playing up his PapaWolf persona, believes at first that Almanzo is preying on his daughter, but various situations during the course of the sixth season help him realize otherwise.
** The real-life age difference between Almanzo Wilder and Laura Ingalls was also 10 years. In the TV series, Laura is 16 when she marries, two years younger than when she and Almanzo were wed in real life.
* ''AllInTheFamily'' and ''ArchieBunkersPlace'': Late in the final season of ''All in the Family'', Archie's 53-year-old brother, Fred, marries an 18-year-old woman, who is barely older than his eldest daughter, then-teenager Billie. Billie – who objected to her father's choice of a child bride – ironically would begin at age 18 dating a man almost twice her own age in 1981, that man being Gary Raboniwitz. The Gary-Billie relationship was a recurring one, allowing for stories to explore the situations and problems that might arise in April-September relationships.
* Often the guy/girl who does it on ''LawAndOrderSpecialVictimsUnit''
** One episode is explicitly about this trope, but the girl only appears to be underage due to a hormone illness. In truth she's in her late twenties but found that her youthful looks meant she could keep seducing teenage boys by posing as a high schooler. The entire episode was trying to explain some of the difficulties involved in statutory rape laws, since none of her partners/victims were aware she was overage.
* Certain people caught by ''[[Series/{{Dateline}} To Catch a Predator]]''. Sometimes Perverted Justice catches guys going after kids as young as twelve; very rarely do their stings use sixteen- or seventeen-year-olds as bait.
* ''Series/CriminalMinds'':
** [[CompleteMonster The Boston Reaper]] is one due to the disproportionate time and violence he directs toward his young female victims, though Rossi seems to mistake him for a hebephile (which is a mistake because the Reaper's victims are all late-adolescent to adult women). The profile isn't wrong, but [[ItGotWorse then]] [[CompleteMonster the Reaper]] [[NoKillLikeOverkill decides to]] [[MoralEventHorizon "change the way [the team] profiles"]].
** The cult leader from the episode "Minimal Loss" was also one.
* ''DesperateHousewives'' has one of the main characters have an on-and-off sexual tryst with a boy who was 17 at the beginning. Luckily thanks to DawsonCasting he looks to be in his late 20s so it's less squicky.
* In the ''Series/{{Glee}}'' pilot, we learn that the original head of the Glee Club Sandy Ryerson was fired for inappropriately touching one of the male club members.
* In the ''Series/ThirtyRock'' episode "Plan B", Pete Hornberger mentions he used to be a substitute teacher, and talks about his frustrations of being attracted to sexually mature students. Mostly cause his students were apparently a bunch of teases.
* Applies to multiple relationships on ''PrettyLittleLiars'': Aria and Mr Fitz, possibly Aria and Jason, Jenna and Officer Garrett, Spencer and her sister's med student fiance, Ian and Alison, Ian and Spencer.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Theater ]]

* Judge Turpin of ''Theatre/SweeneyToddTheDemonBarberOfFleetStreet'' is one of these towards his ward Johanna, mainly due to her reminding him so much of her mother Lucy, his lust for whom kicked the entire plot in motion. His attempt at WifeHusbandry for Johanna is about as {{Squick}}y as you might expect.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Video Games ]]

* This is actually played tragically with Terry Fawles in ''PhoenixWrightAceAttorney''. He's completely head over heels for his 'Teen Angel' Dahlia Hawthorne, who at the time was only fourteen. She's able to manipulate him quite easily because of this, up to [[spoiler: making him kill himself because his faith in her had wavered,]] and whether or not they were actually sexually involved the entire affair is really damn creepy. Terry himself doesn't appear to be mentally all there, which just makes it worse.
** 'Doesn't appear to me mentally all there' may be an understatement, [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation depending on your interpretation.]] [[CompleteMonster Dahlia]] could have been [[MoralEventHorizon purposefully trying to manipulate a guy with severe special needs]], who doesn't even seem to know that it's wrong to be with her.
* ''[[VideoGame/ClockTower Clock Tower 2/USA]]'' has both Harris and Nolan. Nolan doesn't take it quite as far as [[StalkerWithACrush Harris]], though.
* Though obviously non-canon, IronMan shows signs of this in ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3'': his pre-fight quote against female characters is "So, you doing anything after this?", and his winning quote against female characters is "Told you: a nice candlelight dinner would've been better.". The thing is that he also says it to Tron Bonne, who's only ''fourteen years old''. (Admittedly, he may not be aware of her age, as she does look older than 14.)

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Web Original]]
* In ''Roleplay/TheGamersAlliance'', the crime lord [[{{Gayngster}} Galeras Matheson]] likes to have sex with teenager boys. [[DeterminedWidow Marya]] ends up boinking her student, the 16-year-old [[TheEvilPrince Geraden]], in order to control him, fully knowing that he is in fact her direct descendant. In Marya's case there's no attraction involved; she only manipulates Geraden's feelings with the intention of turning him into a strong enough man who can put Marya's plans in motion when the time is right.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Western Animation ]]

* Who else but [[FamilyGuy Quagmire?]]
--> "Hey there sweetie! How old are you?"
--> "Sixteen."
--> [[CrowningMomentOfFunny "Eighteen?]] You're first."
--> "Mom!"
--> "I like where this is going! [[CatchPhrase Giggity]] [[CatchPhrase giggity]] gig-it-ty."
** In a different episode, Quagmire proves [[ChivalrousPervert even he has standards]] - at least where his friends' daughters are involved.
---> "Hey Meg, you eighteen yet?"
---> "No."
---> (Passes by Meg) "Hey Chris, how's it going?"
*** ...or he doesn't want to break the standards around people that actually know him...
** In the episode "Go Stewie Go" Lois tried to have sex with Meg's boyfriend, Anthony. He was entirely willing but that doesn't change the fact that he's around Meg's age, which is 17, and Lois is in her 40's.
* Slade of ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' is seen as this. Having canonically had sex with Terra in [[ComicBook/TeenTitans the comics]], his obsession over Robin and the um...[[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything scene where he tore off Raven's cape]] in "Birthmark" and how every time he grabbed her in the same episode her clothes would disappear, don't do anything at all to discredit it.
* In ''{{Metalocalypse}}'', what killed Zazz Blazzymatazz was the singer, Doctor Rockso, getting busted with a fourteen year old girl, Dory. And he hasn't really gotten over that; the end of the episode had him attracted to the now grown Dory's roughly the same age daughter.
* Papa Smurf's one-time attraction to Smurfette in ''{{The Smurfs}}'' episode "Romeo And Smurfette", which also overlaps with PervertDad. A situation that would have turned into an OldManMarryingAChild trope, but Smurfette even turned down her fellow Smurfs' requests to marry her, saying that she was still too young and that she loved all her fellow Smurfs equally.

->''"That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age."''
-->--'''Wooderson''', ''DazedAndConfused''

A person sexually attracted to late-adolescent minors. [[YouKeepUsingThatWord Not to be confused with]] (and it invariably will be) a pedophile, who is attracted to prepubescent minors (or hebephile, who is attracted to early adolescent minors). Partly this is because pedophiles like to use this term to defend themselves by deliberately blurring the lines between discussion of pedophilia and issues relating to [[JailBait age of consent]] (see also {{Lolicon}}/{{Shotacon}}).

Very controversial, unsurprisingly, especially when it involves adults and teenagers (teenagers running into age of consent issues in relationships with other teens is a different issue). It should be noted that the term Ephebophilia refers to a ''preference'' for late adolescents, so attraction alone does not necessarily make a person an ephebophile. Many people will admit attraction to a teenager or two without acting on it or making a whole lifestyle out of it.

The age of consent varies from country to country and often region by region within a country, which further [[ValuesDissonance muddles the issue]]. However, even in countries where statutory rape laws do not exist or apply only for much younger age groups, some claim the difference is just sophistry. Also, keep in mind there are plenty of teens who can pass for being older, and it's hardly uncommon for people in their 20s to get mistaken for teenagers. [[DawsonCasting Most teenagers in Hollywood are that age anyway]].

If the target is under the age of consent, they're JailBait. Can often lead to TheJailBaitWait.

The detective points out that nobody says anything when he talks to Batman, to which Gordon responds that "[[CrowningMomentOfFunny I'm pretty sure Batman's]] ''[[CrowningMomentOfFunny legal]]''!"
* Buddy Bradley's 36-year-old pal Jay:

In truth she's in her late twenties but found that her youthful looks meant she could keep seducing teenage boys by posing as a high schooler.
* Buddy Bradley's 36-year-old pal Jay:
--> "...I know what you're thinking: that I must be immature, sexually insecure, etc. etc. All of which may be true, but is also besides the point... All I know is what I like... and what I like always turns out to be about half my age."

[[folder: Film ]]

* ''HardCandy''

[[folder: Literature ]]

* ''Series/CriminalMinds'':

[[folder: Western Animation ]]

* Who else but [[FamilyGuy Quagmire?]]
--> "Hey there sweetie! How old are you?"
--> "Sixteen."
--> [[CrowningMomentOfFunny "Eighteen?]] You're first."
--> "Mom!"
---> "No."
