* Toph from ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender''. She's a great Earthbender, both because of natural talent and because she's blind: She learned how to use earthbending to sense her surroundings by registering vibrations in earth from the giant badgermoles she played with when she was young. She's so skilled with it that she can even act as a LivingLieDetector by monitoring people's pulse like a polygraph. She also pioneered the art of metalbending, as metal was previously thought to be too refined to be affected by earthbenders. She does have some logical limitations, however: she hates flying and boating, sand makes everything "blurry," and since there's no braille in this world, she NeverLearnedToRead. But when conditions are ideal for her, her power is so effective it [[RunningGag frequently]] [[ForgotTheDisability makes her friends forget she's blind]].

Amaya has no special powers or abilities related to her deafness aside from a general heightened awareness of her surroundings; she falls more under "Handicapped Badass"

* In the ''WesternAnimation/TheDragonPrince'', General Amaya is Princes Callum and Ezran's aunt. She is deaf. Amaya is a capable warrior, having matched and beaten Sunfire elves in 3v1 combat. She has been portrayed as a well-respected military leader, as well as a very intelligent person. Amaya utilizes what appears to be American Sign Language to communicate. Her assistant, Commander Gren translates for her, most of the time. She had harbored a bigoted hatred for all elves throughout the series, but this seems to lessen by the end of Book Three.

** Another time, after the entire city had been turned to stone by a spell broadcasted over television, the Manhattan clan met with a blind man who had been unaffected. Turns out you need to both see and hear Earth Magic for it to have an effect on you.

* Thanks to Fry from ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' having an *ahem* [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} 'special']] mind, he is immune to all psi attacks. His lacking the Delta Brain Wave, which all animals, robots, and even some ''plants'' have, means the Brain Spawn can't afflict him with their "Stupifaction Ray" that renders its victims even more stupid than Fry. A later episode even shows that, so long as he avoids thinking too hard (by his standards), the Brain Spawn can't even see him. He also fell victim to a Brain Slug once, a PuppeteerParasite that controls and feeds off of the brain of its victims: while it could control him it couldn't feed off of him and quickly starved to death. Finally, not even The Dark One was to read his mind, allowing Fry to once again save the universe from it. Anybody can be an idiot, but not everybody is his own grandfather...

* ''Literature/LoomingGaia'': Satyrs often struggle with magic due to casting spells requiring concentration, which is hard for them because their heightened senses make them hyper-aware of their surroundings and constantly distracted. This isn't a problem for Cinnamon due to her being partially blind and deaf, and she's noted to be adept at telepathy despite her young age.

** In an unusual take, this power isn't limited to her and it doesn't require blindness, as she eventually taught it to the fully sight-capable Aang. [[spoiler: It proved a decisive factor in helping beat Ozai.]] Her daughter Lin in the SequelSeries also uses vibration sensing in her role as a police chief, and there are 'truth seers' who have learned her ability to act as a LivingLieDetector. Mostly, she's just an incredible earthbender, although it's unclear how much is natural talent and how much is just because she's using her Earthbending 24/7. It's definitely not one of the usual InspirationallyDisadvantaged cases where being blind is magic.
