* Ellen Ripley from the Franchise/Alien franchise, particularly in Film/Aliens (the closest to the classic action format). A cargo officer on an interstellar tug with no previous martial experience, she nonetheless manages to destroy alien menaces that claim the lives of fellow crewmen, superhuman cyborgs, and heavily armed space marines alike. Seems like the only ones she can't defeat are the producers.

* Film/PhoneBooth, an actual non-ironic Hollywood blockbuster, proudly declared itself to be Die Hard in a phone booth. It was made by Joel Schumacher and starred Creator/ForestWhitaker, Colin Farrell, Kiefer Sutherland, and Katie Holmes.

* Nicolas Cage was also was in a SciFi movie which echoes Die Hard type moments known as Film/Next, which was also somewhat remniscent of the Denzel Washington film Film/DejaVu.

* Film/LawAbidingCitizen is Die Hard 3-meets-Saw.

* Film/Swordfish is another heist movie with a Hans Gruber type villain named Gabriel who is staging a robbery to hide a truth intent. Coincidentally, the fourth Die Hard steals from this movie and Enemy of the State by having a similar radical villain, also named Gabriel, and who is enlisting hackers to help in his nefarious scheme. This is mainly due to the 4th film having some of the same writers.

* Film/Taken (and it's sequels) were said to be inspired by John McClane, Jack Bauer and Jason Bourne (some of the supporting characters even have the same exact names) and also steals from other films such as The Fugitive and story lines fit for a Steven Seagal movie.
* Film/TheRaid is Die Hard in a rundown apartment complex. There's a twist in that the building is actually the bad guy's home territory, with the good cops as the aggressors, and none of the Die Hard-on-an-X subtropes really come into play, beyond the basic setup.

* Film/Dredd is Die Hard in a huge WretchedHive high-rise in the future. There's even [[spoiler: the villain's death by falling in slow motion out of the tower.]] It was sometimes accused of ripping off the above The Raid - as they both came out the same year - but the truth is a mix of coincidence and the fact that they were both influenced by Die Hard. That said, Dredd - like Film/TheRaid - has the villain already in control of the location by the film's opening, and really takes relatively little from Die Hard, beyond the basic plot structure.

* Film/Speed is often touted as "Die Hard on a bus" despite not being exactly that.
