* Myrvyn Peak's [[Gormanghast]] trilogy sometimes spirals into beautiful scenery descriptions and exposition that sometimes have nothing to do with the story and served to soely set up the castle as an individual personality. Needless to say it both incredibly easy and INCREDIBLY tricky to picture without breaking your imagination...

* In ''Literature/{{TheMillenniumTrilogy}}'' it's exagerated to the point that Larsson feels compelled to describe in detail the looks of each character, height, weight, the appearance, brand and exact model of their clothes, their cars, homes, mobile phones...

* Creator/OscarWilde loves this trope. He can spend pages and pages describing the decor of a room, the upholstery of the chairs, the wallpaper, the bric-a-brac scattered about the room before he gets back to the plot. Arguably this was a Decadent convention, something of a signature of the writers in the movement. It's likely Wilde adopted the practice from the French writer Joris-Karl Huysmans, whose novel ''ARebours'' [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%80_rebours]] was full of this sort of thing.
