** On the Nohrian side of ''Fates'', Nyx can be easily seen as one of these. She used to be a mix of EnfanteTerrible and ChildProdigy in regards to magic, and a punishment she was given an unbreakable curse that [[NotAllowedToGrowUp stunted her physical growth]]. As a result, Nyx is an adult woman trapped in a young girl's body and has severe issues about it: she can barely interact with people and buries herself in books, can't bond with others easily in any sense, has self-worth issues [[ACupAngst regarding her "childlike" body]], and believes that she'll never be able to have a family that loves her. So once she's recruited in ''Conquest'' and ''Revelations'', her supports tend to be about her [[CharacterDevelopment learning to value not only others, but herself as well.]] [[spoiler: And ''very'' unsurprisingly, in ''Revelations'' she is one of the aforementioned Rhajat's potential mothers.]]

* Master Cyclonis from ''WesternAnimation/StormHawks'' has hints of this. She serves as the [[EvilCounterpart]] to the heroic [[MagicalGirl]] Piper to an insane degree. The difference, however, is that Piper has allies while Master Cyclonis is "a lonely girl who terribly wants a friend."

She [[DontYouDarePityMe doesn't want the Magical Girl's pity]], but the MG usually tries to reach out to her and gain her friendship regardless. A MagicalGirl symbolizes the triumph of virtue, justice, and ThePowerOfLove. A Dark Magical Girl asks if there is redemption and salvation for the cursed and lost. MagicalGirl shows tend to come down on the idealist side of the SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism, So the DMG [[RivalsTeamUp almost always gets converted to the good guys' side]] by the end. Once this happens, most Dark Magical Girls tend to be fiercely loyal to the MagicalGirl heroine.

** Princesses of Tears are those who decided that fighting the All-Consuming Darkness was a HopelessWar, and that protecting their loved ones was far more important. To that end, they've thrown their lot in with Alhambra, [[TheEmpire a totalitarian city-state]] within the Dark World ruled by the Queen of Tears. In exchange for their families and lovers being provided with a safe haven, Princesses of Tears now work to steal light and emotion from the mortal world to keep Alhambra functioning.
** Princesses of Storms allowed their hate of the Darkness to dominate their lives, becoming obsessed with destroying it wherever it can be found. They no longer have patience for the ALighterShadeOfBlack morality that typifies the ''TabletopGame/NewWorldOfDarkness'', and the most far-gone among them don't even care about [[DestructiveSavior collateral damage]] or [[ShootTheHostage civilian casualties]] anymore.
** Princesses of Mirrors are self-absorbed glory hounds and attention-seekers, [[TautologicalTemplar convinced that they can do no wrong]] and that their powers make them better than everyone else. Furthermore, thanks to the influence of the Specchio Invocation (which eventually causes madness) and the Queen of Mirrors, every Princess of Mirrors is utterly convinced that they are TheChosenOne destined to defeat the All-Consuming Darkness and restore the Old Kingdom; a [[WrongGenreSavvy delusion]] that tends to end badly for everyone involved considering what the setting is [[BlackAndGreyMorality really]] [[CrapsackWorld like]].

* ''VideoGame/FireEmblem'':

to:

* ''VideoGame/FireEmblem'':''Franchise/FireEmblem'' is noticeable, since it has examples ''of both genders'':

** Prince Takumi from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' is also another RareMaleExample, particularly in the ''Conquest'' path. Much like Lyon, he is driven by the three main forces of a DMG. He not only sought approval from his mother, but from everyone in his inner circle. He also DesperatelyCravesAffection, as he shows this side as soon as you S-rank him as the Avatar. Lastly, he's jealous of all the attention that the people around him give the Avatar, since it causes them to unintentionally neglect him. As mentioned, it gets really bad in ''Conquest'', so much so that [[spoiler:his hate and jealousy allows Anankos to possess him and turn him into a hate-filled killing machine; his wind bow is even replaced by a darkness bow.]]
** [[{{expy}} Similarities]] with ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening's'' Tharja aside, Rhajat from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' turns out to be a rather creepy girl with an extreme case of NoSocialSkills and rather disturbing habits and powers - but who deep down [[IJustWantToBeLoved yearns for love and affection]], specially from the Avatar. Her talks with her parents drive the point further: Her father Hayato realises that she's lying when she denies being NotGoodWithPeople, and when she speaks to her mother, [[spoiler: she focuses on trying to FindTheCure for an illness outbreak ''despite'' being mistakenly believed to have caused said illness with her magic]]. Plus, when confronted by Hayato on how she doesn't ''actually'' want to be alone, Rhajat [[CryCute starts sobbing]].

Before you add an example, ask yourself: is it descriptive enough so that someone who hasn't seen the show can understand it?
A character's name and the show's name are not adequate enough for an example. Describe why the character is a Dark Magical Girl.

** Prince Lyon from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones'' is a RareMaleExample, as well a rare [[spoiler: TheManBehindTheMan example, instead of TheDragon]]. He is the most powerful BlackMage in the universe of Magvel, but he still thinks he is very lacking as a crown prince of his country. He has all three of the driving forces of a DMG, first being [[WellDoneSonGuy his desire for approval]], although in his case he is not only seeking it from his own father but also the twins (so much that he [[spoiler: intentionally let the Demon King [[DemonicPossession possess his body]] to gain more power as well attempting to [[ {{Necromantic}} revive his father from his death]] ]]), second being [[HatesBeingAlone his desire to be not alone]] (the reason why he cherished the twins so much is because they are the ones who freed him from loneliness), and lastly, his [[GreenEyedMonster jealousy towards Ephraim, for having confidence as well talent in physical combat]].
