The ''[[Literature/TheHuntForRedOctober Red October]]'' is a fictionalized Typhoon-class.

* The [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seawolf_class_submarine Seawolf-class]]. Intended to be the real ass-kicker of the UsefulNotes/ColdWar, the ''Seawolf'' was crammed with missiles with which to attack the DirtyCommies should nuclear war break out. Though the class was intended to feature twenty-nine subs, only three were ever built, partly due to said DirtyCommies suddenly ceasing to exist. However, the sub featured in many pieces of literature, especially Creator/TomClancy novels such as ''Literature/RedStormRising''.

** The setting of the movie, ''Anime/OnePieceFilmGold'', is set on a cruise liner that houses a ''massive city'' within it. It's so huge that the World Government even declares it as it's own ''nation''.

* Since ''SuikodenIV'' is set in the Island Nations, it was only natural to have a CoolBoat for your headquarters. The ship offers all of the usual amenities for a ''{{Suikoden}}'' base, from shops and a blacksmith to {{Minigames}}, a training hall and a massive onsen.

Pretty self-explanatory: What the CoolCar and TankGoodness is to the road, the CoolPlane is to the sky, and the CoolStarship is to space, the CoolBoat is to water, whether it's a steamship, a sailing ship, or a [[SubStory submarine]]. A sufficiently large CoolBoat may also serve as headquarters for the characters. If the hero's primary place of residence is a boat that the hero owns and can take wherever he wants, that's a HouseboatHero. When the crew are just as cool and badass and the story is set before the production of metal ships, it could mean WoodenShipsAndIronMen.
