** In the film, Rhino mentions that in the ''Bolt'' TV show, one of Dr. Calico's past plots involved infiltrating the Olympics with gymnastic cyborgs. The pre-canon fic "The Pilot" incorporates this plot into the show's pilot episode, with Dr. Calico creating said cyborgs for this purpose, the better to facilitate taking over the world. Bolt blasts them away with laser EyeBeams in a blaze of pyrotechnics.

** In canon, Rhino's attempt to cheer up Bolt once the dog realizes he has no superpowers includes the observation "And who foiled his [Dr. Calico's] plan to infiltrate the Olympics with gymnastic cyborgs?" ** In ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom'' Indie encounters two sword-wielding mooks and smiles to himself and reaches for his gun to dispatch them like in the classic scene from the original film, only to realise his gun is missing and promptly run away. The entire scene is framed like a CallBack by upping the number of enemies and giving Indie and knowing confidence, but since ''Temple of Doom'' is a prequel it's really a call forward.

* ''VisualNovel/FamicomDetectiveClub: The Girl Who Stands Behind'' ends with the Utsugi Detective Agency receiving a phone call from Zenzou Tanabe of Myojin Village who asks to meet with them in person, leading into the events of ''The Missing Heir''.

** Also in the Part 3 anime, DIO is shown to be in possession of the Bow and Arrow, which were introduced in ''[[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Diamond is Unbreakable]]''.

* ''VideoGame/BaldursGateSiegeOfDragonspear'', being an interquel in the original series, is filled with hints at what will happen in ''VideoGame/BaldursGateII'', that every veteran player will immediately recognize. Some are so explicit to be borderline spoiler for players playing the saga for the first time and doing a linear walkthrough. For example [[spoiler:mentions of Ellisime, Suldanesselar and [[BigBad "The Exile" (Jon Irenicus)]] together with the latter ties with the elves, but also visions of the Slayer as a manifestation of Bhaal's taint]].

** One scientist notes that Giovanni’s kid has red hair, a not-too-subtle nod to the rival from Gen II.

* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8737926 Better Angels]]'', a ForWantOfANail fic about Shane Walsh [[spoiler:killing Rick Grimes]], Shane notes that a person needs to be bitten to turn into a Walker. Due to [[spoiler:Rick's demise, the secret that Dr. Jenner told Rick]] is never revealed, so Shane nor anyone else in the Atlanta group is initially aware, and Shane [[spoiler:shoots Rick's head before he can reanimate as Shane did in canon]].

* Chapter five of ''[[https://https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12946203/5/Nothing-Is-Impossible Nothing is Impossible]]'', set before the events of ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'', sees Vision asking Wanda why Tony's files have Thor listed as "[[CallBack Point]] [[Film/TheAvengers2012 Break]]". [[Film/ThorRagnarok Years later]], Thor is dismayed to discover that the only passcode a Quinjet's onboard computer will accept from him is this nickname.

* The ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarepants'' spin-off, ''WesternAnimation/KampKoral'', which serves as a prequel to the original series, has these sometimes. For example, Plankton works as a chef in the Krusty Kanteen to save money for college. Guess what the character's second words in the main show are?
* ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' has a few of these in “A Sitch in Time”, when Drakken and Kim travel back in time to the latter’s past:
** Pre-K Kim is first seen hugging her mother’s VisiblePregnancy and referring to it as her “new baby sister”. Her mother then correctly guesses it could be a boy, but recoils at her husband suggesting it could be twins. Of course, she ends up giving birth to [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling Tim and Jim the Tweebs]].
** Pre-K Ron, when stuck in a pickle, calls upon help from [[TeamPet Rufus]]… [[BaitAndSwitch his ten foot tall imaginary friend]]. In the middle school segments, he comments that his dad won’t let him get a pet due to his fur allergy, explaining his eventual choice of a Naked Mole Rat.
** After getting onto the cheerleading team, Kim is forced to leave by a call, calling out “I promise I’ll never skip practice again”.

* In an episode of ''Westernanimation/{{Phantom 2040}}'' showing Doctor Jak and Mister Cairo's backstories, we see that Jak was once a serious reporter who was critical of the downward trend of journalism, and objected to his superiors' constant demand to make his show more sensational.

* ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023'', a prequel series based on the Franchise/MonsterVerse, has a couple references in [[Recap/SkullIsland2023S1E7YoureNotAKingYoureJustAStupidAnimal Episode 7]] to events in past [=MonsterVerse=] movies that are chronologically set after the series' time frame:

* The ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003'' episode "Go!" is practically made up of these. Notable ones include Cyborg saying "I'm only gonna say this once -- Booya!" and the team stopping by an island (that of course will eventually house their headquarters) and Cyborg comments that "somebody should build a house out here."
* The audition tapes for season 4 of ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'' are chock full of this.
** Dakota says that she’ll be [[ExactWords the biggest thing around]].
** Mike is shown to have won a skating award, has a photo of Ayers Rock on his mantle, mentions that he can be scrappy if needed and inadvertently lets slip that he’s seeing a psychiatrist, [[spoiler:All hinting at his Multiple Personality Disorder]].
