* The 140 years ''young'' [[BattleaxeNurse ass-kicking medic]] Kureha in ''Manga/OnePiece'' has a lovely, hourglass shaped body, but the face of a hag. Don't let her know -- you ''WILL'' get your ass handed to you.

** There's also Kokoro, the drunken railroad inspector of the Puffing Tom in Water 7. While in the present day she's a straight {{Gonk}}, the flashback sequence shows she used to be physically attractive from the neck down before Tom's death caused her to really hit the bottle, though another flashback sequence to presumably her 20s shows she was very beautiful before then. [[spoiler: Probably has something to do with the species of fish her mermaid traits take after.]]

** Inverted with [[EnthrallingSiren the Sirens]]; their ''faces'' were pretty, but their bodies were like those of [[FeatheredFiend birds]] (NOT [[SirensAreMermaids fish]], birds), from either the waste or neck down.

Although this is mostly intended for female characters, the trope is hardly applicable to women only and some male characters also qualify as {{Spear Counterpart}}s of this (ie HeroicBuild without the handsome face). Often overlaps with FanDisservice.

** Shao Kahn is another male example. The guy has the physique of a bodybuilder and normally wears little else than a loincloth, boots, shoulderpads, and a harness. He also normally wears a full-faced helmet, [[http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060613183108/mk/images/5/5b/Shao_Kahn_comic.jpg but when he doesn't...]] except in ''Film/MortalKombatAnnihilation'', where he has a normal human face (specifically, that of Brian Thompson) under the helmet.
*** He also has a normal human face in ''MortalKombatLegacy''.

The Japanese have their own word for it, "bakku-shan" (a combination of "back" and "schön", German for "beautiful"), hence "beautiful only from the back". In the Philippines, this is called "hipon," which means "shrimp," because when eating shrimps, you only go for the body and not the head (A similar analogy is used in Australia, with "prawn" and in México with "camarona"). Meanwhile in Poland, in an inversion of LieBackAndThinkOfEngland, this kind of woman is described as "flag on her face, and for the Motherland!". In Brazil, the common nickname is "Raimunda", from the Portuguese for "ugly face, but [[SkewedPriorities a pretty ass]]". In Puerto Rican Spanish, they're called a "coño carajo", which roughly translates to "damn fuck", as in from the back you say "Daaaaaaamn!" and from the front you say "Fuck!"

* ''You'' can play as one in basically every game that lets you fully create your characters, such as ''The Elder Scrolls'', ''Fallout'' 3 onwards or the ''Saints Row'' series; your female character can look drop-dead gorgeous from the neck-down, but play around with the face sliders enough and you can end up with a Butter Face that would make even [[Franchise/MortalKombat Mileena]] look like a fashion model.

* Referenced in ''Literature/{{Aztec}}''. In Nahuatl, there's a spirit in some areas called the ''Xtabai'', who appears first as a flame, and then a beautiful naked woman who dances a ways off, but the unwary traveller can't see her face. When she's lured him to quicksand, she reveals her face to him, and it's a grinning skull. When Mixtli follows the flame, he finds some sort of muck that smells like rotten eggs, and comments that no matter how beautiful, no one would want the Xtabai if she reeks like that. It turns out to be useful, though, as the muck is a sort of tar that is good fuel for his fire.
