** In ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' there's the Bow Knights again, who now are promoted from either Outlaws (who use only bows) or Mercenaries (who only use swords). [[spoiler: According to the story this is the canon promotion of the BadassAdorable Selena, aka Severa from ''Awakening''. The player can reclass her into Hero or Bow Knight depending on their desaires, tho.]]

* ''Literature/MalazanBookOfTheFallen'':
** LightningBruiser Icarium Lifestealer carries both a longbow, which seems to be his first choice of weapons, and a sword, and can be deadly with either, but wears little -- if any -- armour.
** The TallDarkAndSnarky Tiste Andii youth named Clip is introduced sporting both a bow and a rapier, although the entire description seems to exist to emphasize how he's modified his gear for stealthy movement, setting up the scene for him being an [[ProfessionalKiller assassin]].

** In the [[Literature/TheHeroicLegendofArslan Arslan]] crossover game, the characters Arslan, Daryun, Farangis, Elam, Alfarid, and Kubard all carry at least 1 bladed weapon and 1 bow. The gameplay's weapon-swapping mechanic allow them to freely swap between them at will, making it the ideal combo.

** In VideoGame/SamuraiWarriors, the Sengoku-era counterpart to the Three Kingdoms setting of Dynasty Warriors, the character Ina uses a bow that has blades mounted on it, allowing for melee combat. The same applies to Magoichi Saika and Ieyasu Tokugawa, who both possess ranged weapons, but also have a means of smacking enemies around with them.

* In ''VideoGame/DynastyWarriors 5'' (and the games that came before it), all characters can switch between their normal weapon and a bow. The bow is more or less useless, though. Unless its used by Huang Zhong or Xiahou Yuan, who incorporates the bow much more into their move sets, and can shoot out muliple wide waves of 5 arrows rapidly.

** Starting from the 7th main entry, all characters can equip any other weapon alongside their primary weapon, so if the player chooses a bow, then it becomes this.

** The [[VideoGame/DarkSouls3 third game]] depicts this as being a standard of the Black Hand Hunters of Lothric (both the one you can summon as a phantom and the one you encounter as an enemy), with both having variants of switching between bow and sword and DuelWielding in lieu of carrying a shield.

* ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls'' series has had a long tradition of player characters being able to do this. ''TheElderScrollsIVOblivion'' started applying this trope to [=NPCs=], particularly city guards, who are equally proficient in ranged and melee combat. ''TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'' turned this into a bit of an enforced trope for melee characters, since you need some kind of ranged capabilities (either magic or bow) to bring down dragons.

Added DiffLines:

* A possible build for Angelo in ''VideoGame/DragonQuestVIII'', and somewhat viable as bows are rare while swords are common, and one has to use ItemCrafting to make half of them, including the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Odin's Bow.]]
