** The [[VideoGame/DarkSouls3 third game]] depicts this as being a standard of the Black Hand Hunters of Lothric (both the one you can summon as a phantom and the one you encounter as an enemy), with both having variants of switching between bow and sword and DuelWielding in lieu of carrying a shield.

* ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls'' series has had a long tradition of player characters being able to do this. ''TheElderScrollsIVOblivion'' started applying this trope to [=NPCs=], particularly city guards, who are equally proficient in ranged and melee combat. ''TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'' turned this into a bit of an enforced trope for melee characters, since you need some kind of ranged capabilities (either magic or bow) to bring down dragons.

Added DiffLines:

* A possible build for Angelo in ''VideoGame/DragonQuestVIII'', and somewhat viable as bows are rare while swords are common, and one has to use ItemCrafting to make half of them, including the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Odin's Bow.]]

* Garrett uses bow and sword in the first two ''VideoGame/{{Thief}}'' games (partly as an artifact of the unexpected history of the engine in those games) and switches to bow and dagger in the third. The bow can be used as a weapon, but more often is used as a tool by firing TrickArrows (the games discourage killing any humans; that's just unprofessional for a thief). The blade is always a weapon of absolute last resort; Garrett doesn't do well in melee.

* ''VideoGame/ShadowOfTheColossus'': The player has exactly two weapons, a bow and a sword. Funnily enough, Wander himself is very much an archer and clearly has no idea how to use his sword.
