Added DiffLines:

* Film/BobAndCarolAndTedAndAlice: Bob and Carol visit a hippy-dippy New Age therapy retreat that is obviously supposed to be the Esalen Institute. But the producers apparently didn't want to pay the folks at Esalen, so it's only called "the Institute".

* Meanwhile, back in the regular Franchise/MarvelUniverse, the name "Mc Burger's" is used whenever someone needs to refer to a burger chain, and there is a frequently villainous oil company by the name of "Roxxon Oil". Stark Industries is their general replacement for Apple (so [=StarkPhone=] -> iPhone etc. and yes there is an app for everything). Franchise/MyLittlePony translates to Magical Pony Adventures (or rarely Pony Pals), [=YouTube=] to [=MeTube=], Instagram to Pictagram, Tumblr to Yamblr etc.. So does anyone want to guess what MovieTropes dot com is a stand-in for?

** One of the most hilarious in IV is Krapea, a brand of Swedish pre-assembled furniture... Much like IKEA.

Added DiffLines:

* Subverted in Manga/VideoGirlAi, when Youta tries to take Ai to the movies but she doesn't want to. He eventually ends up going alone, and the film he sees is a spoof of Film/Batman in which the titular character's bat motif refers to baseball bats rather than the animal. The subversion is in the fact that the name is written the exact same way as Batman's name is written in Japanese, making this also an IncrediblyLamePun.

* Some tracks in Forza Motorsport behave this way, too. For example, Sunset Peninsula Raceway is a venue on the Florida coastline that includes a tri-oval approximately 2.5 miles in length and infield road course, similar to Daytona International Speedway. (Forza is not immune, as several older NASCAR video games also lacked Daytona due to licensing issues.)
