* There are some pretty funky Franchise/Pokemon examples. True, they're technically not animals, but most are based on animals. A yellow mousethe Pikachu line, a blue turtlethe Squirtle line, a yellow and a blue duck/platypusthe Psyduck line. And that's just the first generation of mons! Yeah, those critters cover the spectrum and back. Most Pokemon tend to be colored based on what sort of type they're supposed to represent, and even that isn't a hard rule. It also applied to the fictional critters themselves with the shiny Pokémon.

That’s a mistake in markings, not color.

Little songbirds which are dull-colored in RealLife may be depicted as brightly colored; in a more subtle version, crows and ravens are often shown with yellow beaks and feet, though retaining their all-black plumage (modern works, however, will show them with gray beaks and feet instead).

Spelling/grammar fix(es) (wrong word)

Can be subject to HairColorDissonance where the unnatural color is adjusted to something more natural by the viewer's brain. Completely unrelated to PinkElephants, although this trope may cause people to think that that trope or MushroomSamba is in play. The fauna equivalent is FantasticFlora, which may produce FantasticFruitsAndVegetables.

* WebVideo/RatsSMP: A few of the rats have decidedly unnatural fur/hair colours, like Acho (lilac), Lizzie (pink), and Scott (light blue). Acho's case is justified, , while others have varying degrees of justification themselves from various pigments .
