In ''Earthrise'' Irine states that heavy labor is done by machines so slaves are either used as personal servants or used for pleasure, and that she wouldn't mind being MadeASlave too much. Reese suggests that the pirates after them might prefer to make her into a rug instead to motivate her to fight.
