Cutlisted stub trope.
* InterUniverseWar: The Psychlos discovered earth when one of its probes was found, they crossed over from their universe, curb-stomped humanity quickly, then started looting and mining the planet.

** WritersCannotDoMath: While most of the book manages to do base-11 pretty good, the explanation of the symbols used for numbers given by near the end of the book gives a symbol for 11, which in base-11 would be "one-zero" (just like ten is written as one-zero in base-10).

unfortunate implications need citations
* NationalStereotypes: The Scots are all claymore-wielding kilt-wearing Bravehearts, Russians drink vodka and still hang onto old Soviet traditions, Swiss-Germans are all master craftsmen or bankers (in a post-apocalyptic world where most tribes have not yet rediscovered metal!), the Frenchman faints at the sight of even a dead Psychlo, the Chinese family are experts on protocol and courtly manners who have been waiting for a new emperor to serve for a thousand years, and the mongrel tribe from Africa is a bunch of primitive cannibals.

* FridgeLogic: Given that the Psychlo teleporter works by swapping two areas of space and that Terl dies by teleporting himself into what’s purported (at least on this page) to be a sun formed from his dead world, just what in the hell materialized on the Earth-side teleporter?

* InferredHolocaust: Some of the Psychlo bases on other worlds were in the middle of occupied cities. When Jonnie checks on them a year or so after his attack on the Psychlo Empire, he finds blasted, lifeless ruins, but thinks no more of it.

Battlefield Earth made it to the top of numerous bestseller listsScientologists bought it in bulk in an effort to boost sales of Dianetics, but critical response was less than enthusiastic, citing the novel's Doorstopper length, plotting, and characters. Nevertheless, the idea of making a movie persisted until finally being realized in the year 2000, starring JohnTravolta (who personally bankrolled the project), Forest Whitaker, and Barry Pepper. It was a pretty spectacular bomb, but you can read about its tropes here if you're after some SnarkBait.
