* Subverted in ''ThePrincessPlanet''. Frankenstein's monster points out that since Dr Frankenstein is technically his mother (yes, their version of the mad doctor is female), he would have the same last name.

* ''Webcomic/SluggyFreelance''. Ten years on, and we ''still'' haven't found out what the title actually means, we just know it's not the name of any of the characters.
** It was finally given significance, seventeen years later: [[spoiler: Bun-bun used to be a deity named "Sluggy," and he went freelance after a major divine shakeup. Also, "Sluggy" is apparently Torg's middle name.]] The title still makes little sense in a daily sense, though, because [[spoiler: neither Bun-bun nor Torg]] use "Sluggy" on even an infrequent basis.

* Zig-zagged by ''Webcomic/SchlockMercenary''. The title means "cruddy mercenary," but "Schlock" is also the name of the amorphous pile-of-poo character, [[CaptainObvious a mercenary]] whose parents [[UnfortunateNames must have hated him]]. Except [[SpotlightStealingSquad he isn't really the main character anymore, having been largely displaced by the captain]], whose name is Tagon. So it's somewhat of an ArtifactTitle, and can be sort of confusing.
