* While it's a first and foremost a joke, the scene of Armond getting in the face of the guy who is understandably annoyed with Albert bumps into him shows how quick he is to defend his beloved partner. [[spoiler:Up so and including [[TalkToTheFist a fist to the eye]]]].

** Even though Katherine and Val have never properly spoken, she doesn't hesitate to help when Armand asks ("Cancel my appointments"). When she briefly gets to speak with Val on the phone before arriving, she's clearly overcome with emotion, but states nonetheless she's happy to finally help her son. Such small moments but Christine Baranski nailed it.

* Doubling as a TearJerker, Barbara's small, quiet "I would have really liked to have had you as my family" to Armand and Albert as her parents try to drag her away.

* When Val first announces his engagement and getting married, Armand and Albert's top concern isn't that he's marrying straight, it's that he's marrying before finishing his college studies. It's Heartwarming in that it's a parental concern for their child's future, but also a subtle dig at [[SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped the fears gay-bashers had that gay parents would intentionally raise their children as gay]].

** It bears mentioning that Katherine wasn't involved in Val's life because she knew Armand and Albert were better equipped to be parents than she was. That said, when she has a chance to briefly talk to Val on the phone before the dinner, she says she's happy to finally help him.
