* In the first season episode "Up on the Roof," Fancy's family is shown to have been taking care of a young boy, Maceo, whose mother is a drug addict. The mother, having apparently gotten clean, wants him back. Arthur is reluctant because he wants to make sure she's ready to take care of Maceo, but the court sides with her. In the fourth season episode "Unembraceable You," we see that all of Arthur's fears were realized: the mother is back on drugs and Maceo is arrested for being a drug mule at her instigation. Arthur spends the episode trying to minimize Maceo's legal troubles, which is not helped by the fact that Maceo is (understandably) embittered and resistant to accepting help. Arthur does manage to get Maceo a deal with a lesser sentence, and Maceo cools off a bit. At the end, Arthur visits Maceo in his cell.
-->'''Arthur:''' I can sign you out with me if you'd like to come to dinner.
-->'''Maceo:''' Put my nose in it.
-->'''Arthur:''' No one wants to rub your nose in anything, Maceo. ''[sits down next to Maceo]'' The future keeps telling us what the past was about. You make the past mean different things by the way you use the time that comes after. A few years ago you spent some time with people who loved you, Maceo. That doesn't have to be some dream set away from the rest of your life. ''[{{beat}}]'' Lillian and the girls would be so happy to see you again. You can meet our little boy.
-->'''Maceo:''' What's his name?
-->'''Arthur:''' He's named after me. Why don't you come home with me, Maceo. Junior's got girls on all sides of him, he'd love to have an older boy at the table.
-->'''Maceo:''' I'm grateful you helping me.
-->'''Arthur:''' Remember life dealt you this card, too.
-->''[Arthur stands up and leaves the cell, and Maceo follows]''

* Sipowicz is trying to get the owner of a store that sells surveillance equipment to tell him who purchased a particular device but because of the circumstances does not want to go through the proper channels. The shop owner blows him off initially, then Sipowicz tells him that the listening device sold was used to endanger a child. The owner quickly changes his mind and gives up the information, remarking about how [[WouldntHurtAChild crimes against children disgust him.]]

* Near the end of the final season, Sipowicz has, extremely late into his career, managed a promotion to Sergeant. As he steps out of his office with his new rank sewed on for the first time, he notices that the floor is empty outside of Bale (busy on the phone) and Irvin, who says that everyone else must have already gone to the ceremony. Andy silently makes his way down the stairs, only to stop dead halfway as he sees the ''entire precinct'' lined up on the ground floor, ready to salute. As Sipowicz puts them at ease, everyone breaks into applause, and Andy walks through (on the verge of tears) knowing that the entire unit is behind him. * Seeing Meadavoy finally succeed both romantically and in starting a new career towards the end of season 12, and being able to retire from the NYPD happily, rather than in disgrace (as he was afraid would happen earlier in the same season).

* In "Hammer Time," Sipowicz, on his first day back after surgery on his prostate, wets himself while interrogating someone. He gets into the restroom as fast as he can, but Medavoy sees what happened. Medavoy goes into the restroom, where Sipowicz is hiding in a stall, and (without mentioning what happened) says that he has a spare pair of pants in his locker Sipowicz can use. Sipowicz, who was often quite a JerkAss (especially to Medavoy), takes the pants and sincerely thanks him.
