* In "Hackidu", which spoofs the ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' phenomenon, Ray, like many real-life adults at the time, simply doesn't understand the trend. Frank and Marie are, surprisingly, the ones who provide a point of view sympathetic to the kids. Frank knows how important trading cards are to children due to a time from Ray's childhood when he, Frank, ruined Ray's Batman trading cards--recalling how betrayed Ray look, Frank calls it his biggest regret as a parent. Marie, meanwhile, has evidently taken the time to learn Hackidu lore in order to connect with the children.

* It’s a very subtle, “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” moment, but Marie gets one in “Boob Job.” When Debra surprises the family with her breast augmentation, Frank and Robert rudely and creepily stare at her while refusing to leave the room. Marie, of all people, announced it was none of any of their business and insisted that they all leave to give Ray and Debra privacy. For a character who never missed a chance to meddle in her children’s lives and always had something to say, this was a refreshing OutOfCharacterMoment for Marie.

* The ending to "Talk to Your Daughter". Ally had asked about the meaning of life ("Why were we born? Why has God put us here?"), and Ray and Debra were debating with Marie, Frank, and Robert on how to answer such an existential question. When the two returned to her room later on to finally answer her question, she's seen playing and goofing around with Michael and Jeffrey. Rather than interrupt the three, Ray and Debra non-verbally decide to save the serious talk for another time and let the three keep having fun. The sweet moment is [[MoodWhiplash interrupted by a lamp breaking.]]

* "Just a Formality": The scene when Robert finally proposes to Amy. Debra had taken Amy out for dinner, and suddenly cop cars corner the two outside the restaurant.

* How "She's the One" ends. Robert, despondent over how his latest girlfriend was a weirdo who collected frogs, goes to the local bar to drown his sorrows. He accidentally trips a waiter, who spills drinks all over Amy, who's sitting at another table. Robert and Amy notice each other and their eyes lock. Fade out to audience "wooo"s.

** There's another moment for Robert in the finale: when the doctor first comes out to tell the family that Ray's not waking up, he immediately steps forward and demands to go into the surgery room to try to help him--"I'll get him up. I'm his brother."

Added DiffLines:

** In the same episode, there's Marie's speech to Frank about what she would say in a tribute to him.
---> '''Marie''': I would say...he's been my husband for 42 years. That we have two wonderful boys together, and three beautiful grandchildren. Isn't that right?...And that he's always been there for us and been a good provider. And that even though we squabble every now and then, I know he's the one for me. And whatever I did to deserve him...I'll live with.
---> '''Frank''': [[ActuallyPrettyFunny I like that!]] With the humor, yeah!

Added DiffLines:

** What makes it even better is that the speech can be read as Marie implying that ''Ray'' is at fault for not wanting to change, if you see him as Frank in the analogy. If Marie is saying that Ray is doing something wrong, it's a momentous occasion.
